Re: Stryper question

Just for interesting perspective. I did the math and found that Michael wrote 84% of the songs on all Stryper albums. It's actually probably slightly higher because I did not eliminate songs that were borrowed from other groups, like Shining Star and Peace of Mind. On the songs that had co-writers,...

Re: Stryper question

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/ex-stryper-bassist-tim-gaines-slams-michael-sweet-tells-his-former-bandmates-to-grow-some-balls/ Wouldn't be the first time someone was booted from a band for letting their personal life get in the way of their career. Perhaps the most high-profile example was Steve...

Re: Acoustic Classical Hartman - new CD

Can't wait to hear it. I think Bob is an underrated guitarist.

Re: CPR

OK, I get that. I probably like Sabaton because they sound like an 80's hair-metal band.

Re: CPR

It is very hard for males beyond their 20s to be impressed with new music, especially from their favorite bands. I'm not sure why you say that. I thought Jekyll & Hyde was awesome, and that came out when I was in my 30s (holy crap, was it really that long ago?!). I love the recent stuff Steve Taylo...

Re: CPR

Without Bob Hartman's involvement, it's going to be really hard to sell this as a Petra album -- which is essentially what they're trying to do. I don't think anybody is fooled by the "CPR" name (which I still think stands for "Classic Petra Redux"). And seeing how Classic Petra only really appealed...

Happens all the time, especially when there's a paycheck and fame involved.

Re: Neal Schon Blasts Bandmates for Meeting With Trump

Neal Schon always struck me as a bit of a jerk. Claiming that he's only about the music is BS. I remember him saying in an interview that when Cain and Perry demoed "Open Arms" for the band, Schon hated the song because he didn't think it lent itself to a strong guitar part. There are also rumors th...

Re: My bootleg tribute to 30 years of TMW

That old school sword logo was the coolest thing ever and gave the band a real identity. I was sad to see it retired when the Elefante Bros. started producing the albums.

I thought Petra was done after Bob left...
As I've mentioned before, Bob never really left. He stopped touring, but he was still an active member of the band through producing, writing songs, and performing in the studio.

Re: CPR

It's very quiet around here. Does this CPR thread need a cardio pulmonary resuscitation? According to Greg's most recent Facebook post, mixing begins mid-June. Wasn't this album supposed to drop back in March??? To be honest, I'm not that excited about this project. Classic Petra was fun for what i...

My impression of Rex Carrol is that he's extremely technically proficient but not very creative.

Re: CPR

I think his stage presence is horrible and unprofessional(I've seen Petra live 5 times with him and truly couldn't even look at him). Sorry, what? I always thought Greg Volz had terrific stage presence, and he was a master at working/controlling the crowd. As for being unprofessional, is there some...

Re: Atheist Petra Fans

You have claimed an atheist cannot have moral obligation. Now you seem to say he can but cannot account for it. You have made moral understanding and obligation dependent on the existence of God. None of this is contradictory. If atheism is true then moral obligation does not exist. However, moral ...

Re: Atheist Petra Fans

How, then, can an atheist even get the sense of moral obligation according to you? Since he does not believe in the consequences you point to, and since you then imply that he cannot have an obligation, then why would it ever occur to him to have a sense of such an obligation which according to you...
