Re: Petheads in St Louis?

Hmm... I guess location is a very personal matter? Or did my description scare everybody? 8)

Re: Any Hills Alive Show Report?

A couple shots of Ardour/MIDI: http://drobilla.net/files/ardour_midi_tempo_change.png ; http://linux-sound.org/images/blog/full-size/4-ardour3-midi.png . I haven't used MIDI much, so it was never an issue for me (and there's a wealth of linux sequencers/samplers/synths that can be patched into Ardou...

Re: What were your first favorite Christian Artisits?

Keith Green would have been my first favorite. Petra followed soon after - even when I was 6-7 years old, I heard a lot of GVX era Petra and I recognized songs like 'Chameleon' and 'Angel of Light' as having a type of poignant message that you don't usually hear in Christian music. It wasn't till '0...

Re: Any Hills Alive Show Report?

Ardour is doing very well actually - they're prepping their next big release (3.0) - among other things this will be the first version to include MIDI capabilities (Ardour has been an audio-only DAW for a while). Community support has been growing, so adoption is picking up some. JACK (sort of the "...

Re: New Classic Petra Update as of 7-23-10

I have come down hard on The Blasphemy Network, because of who they are, how they handle money, how they have paid off people to keep the chess scandels and other stuff silent, and who they give a voice too. They are part of the problem with modern Christianity. In fact, they have helped propogate ...

Re: New Classic Petra Update as of 7-23-10

Heh, I wish it were mine. I got the photo from Bob's website. Right now he's not making any guitars (I don't blame him - right now I'm happy he's playing his own!), but when and if one becomes available, I'll be getting it. The pictured guitar ("The Worshipper") is supposed to be a light Telecaster ...

Re: New Classic Petra Update as of 7-23-10

Better late than never. Especially now in the "new media" age, most of what was good on TV can be gotten through the internet, minus (thanks to AdBlocker) much of the bad.

Not that there's no bad on the internet (yeah right!), but at least you're in control.

Re: New Classic Petra Update as of 7-23-10

For that matter...We janked our cable last year.....At some point you have to decide what's good and what's best. Reading God's Word, Fellowshipping with Jesus, being there for our family, friends and others is way more important than TV. I'll enjoy the DVD though!!! Amen to that, my friend. Haven'...

Re: New Classic Petra Update as of 7-23-10

I'm so glad they're keeping the blog updated - it's exciting to see what's going on! I say this with hesitation, but I really don't like TBN. I'm glad they're doing this for Petra, but as a Christian network, I don't have a lot of trust in they're discernment. They seem to jump onto every bandwagon ...

Re: BAD Song Lyrics

I've heard very little D&K, but I have heard "Boycott Hell" a few times - at first it sounded a bit childish, but grew on me. Now I kinda like it. Personally, I didn't have trouble with the "fudged" rhymes and meter; that usually doesn't bother me. This is my top bad lyrics song, courtesy of Jars of...

Petheads in St Louis?

Hey guys, I'm new to these forums - though I've been reading here for years actually, since J&H. I finally found a way to email the admin and get my account activated (thanks Daniel!). So, hi. Anyways, I live (with my family) in St Louis, MO - we moved here in December 2009. I was introduced to Petr...

Re: Petra Wikipedia page project

A couple questions maybe someone here could answer or point to sources that provide the answer: * Why did John Slick leave the band? ... The "A Guide To Petra" website (which appears to have been abandoned and no longer functions properly) had an interview with John Slick - I forget that actual tim...
