Re: Another post-CP Volz vid
I'm mostly new to this forum, but I don't know why you have to start in such a defensive state. Anyway, I had no idea Volz had recorded a cover of that song. I'm a huge fan of that Aerosmith song, so I'm not gonna say he did great. But the song is demanding as it is, so I suppose that singing it li...

Re: Songs from Double Take that you like more than the origi
I've always enjoyed "Praying Man" from DT over the original. BTW anyone here Stryper's new live album? It's horrible and a waste of money. Not only have I heard the new Stryper live album, I bought it and really enjoy it. Sure, Michael doesn't scream on every song like he used to, but he's still do...

Re: Songs from Double Take that you like more than the origi
Would you have rather had them put out another compilation album like Word wanted to Petra to do? A no frills heard-it-all-before compilation to finish up their contract. That's what you WOULD have gotten instead. Bob and all didn't want that.... hence Double Take was born. Thank the Lord for that!...

Re: Sons from Double Take that you like more than the origin
Can't think of even one song that comes close to the originals for me. To my ears, they took every great melody and made them flat and lifeless.

Re: 1987 Back To The Street?
The Hindus call it Karma. I'm not a Hindu, and I don't care about their Karma. Neither Karma, luck, nor the fates have any place in my worldview. I don't care if the Hindus think something bad is going to happen to me. I'm only concerned that I may be doing wrong by God's standards; besides, people...

Re: Another compilation album...
What I find most interesting is that the picture on the cover is not representative of who actually appears in most of those songs. Looks like "He Came, He Saw, He Conquered" and "This Means War!" are the only two with that specific line-up. It wouldn't be representative if they used any band photo...

Re: Double Take: Music vs Lyrics
Maybe I'm not the typical consumer, then, because I actually really like live albums. My Johnny Cash collection has multiple versions of the same song between studio and live recordings because every performance is different -- sometimes dramatically so. In other case there are songs that were only...

Re: Petra Is Done
I think that's because CCM thinks that once you turn 30, you are supposed to start liking the Gaither Vocal Band, MW Smith, Hillsong, and/or Casting Crowns, etc. You are supposed to grow up and leave that youthful music behind, don't forget that young man!!! Nevermind all the Classic Rock/80s Rock ...

Re: Petra Is Done
My first introduction to Petra was shortly after MPTY came out, and one of my older brothers borrowed the record from a friend. I instantly fell in love with them when I heard Stand Up and saw the cool album cover (full-sized LP). Being only 8 or 9 at the time, I only heard Petra once in a while unt...

Re: Concerns
I don't think altar calls should be included in every concert. I have been present for many of these in my life, and I agree that it may be a legitimate opportunity for salvation in some cases. However, I think that this kind of practice turns away many people from organized Christianity. These peop...

Re: Petra vs Stryper
Religion and specific denominations would be hostile toward Michael and say, "I told you so". They would throw the baby out with the bathwater and say all of rock and Christian rock is wrong. The important thing is not to get hung up on what Michael and the guys did wrong then, but how Michael sees...

Re: Petra vs Stryper
Yeah, Michael has been really up front about what used to happen in the late 80s on tour. I think that it's refreshing to hear such honesty. The fact is, no one is perfect. I'm sure the guys in Petra have had their share of things that they are not proud of. When John was in Head East, he probably e...

Re: Poll: No Doubt (1995)
The problem with the 3d is that they're mostly colours in the green spectrum. If you are colour blind it is very hard to see subtle differences and contrasts between colours of the same spectrum. If you don't see the difference in colours then you are not able to shift your focal point because it w...

Re: Poll: No Doubt (1995)
I'm colour blind and because of that the 3D doesn't work for me. But you have to admit, the rest of the artwork is corny mid-90s. This is the kind of stuff you're ashamed of ten years later. The music, though, is very good. When I first heard No Doubt I thought there were too many ballads, same as ...

Re: Double Take: Music vs Lyrics
No, it would not change my opinion one bit.
My complete issue is with the music and how little melody is left in the Double Take version of the classics. Of course, this was a sign of the times, but I either need a strong melody or it has to evoke some sort of feeling in me that I want to revisit.
