Re: Introduction of an Old Petra Fan / New Member Here

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I went back to my Mother's house last week and took some iPhone shots of the posters that still grace the walls of my old bedroom. My son stays in there whenever he spends the night at grandma's.

Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly

I'm sure that due to the number of artists present Petra will only get to play one or two songs... Makes sense. I get that. I was just unable to get to the Farewell tour (different life and financial situation) and just have been feeling like I missed the last train leaving the station. Looks like ...

Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly

Now wait...hold up... Where is this going to be - Nashville? I want to go as well if it is open to the public, I'm not understanding where this is going to take place and how we can come see it. I'm all about making contributions to a good cause, and don't have a problem with that. I just want to be...

Re: Poll: Favorite song from Petra (1974)

I think it's funny that Bob Hartman kept the name after they (the originals) disbanded. I also think that the "New And Improved" across the top of WWT is funny - It really was a new and improved Petra! You'll get no argument from me about being better, but this album has a unique charm all to it's ...

Re: Introduction of an Old Petra Fan / New Member Here

Thanks Rex, I love your missle command "This Means War" avatar, we must be from the same generation. 8) Hey check it out. I found my old jean jacket I used to wear in high school back in the 80s hanging in a closet in my mom's house...still has my Petra buttons and the "On Fire" words I painted on t...

Re: Poll: Jekyll & Hyde (2003)

I can remember when I first put the Jeckyl & Hyde CD into my car player. The guitar chords thundered through my speakers and I found myself immediately reaching for the volume knob. Goosebumps crawled up my neck and arms and my mouth turned up into a wide grin. Next I found myself yelling "YES! JESU...

Re: Poll: Revival (2001)

I really disliked this album. It seemed like Petra was at "last gasp", fumbling through the dark, trying to find any way to success. It was doing it by trying to adjust their vocals and music to what rock music was sounding like at the time period (which sucked really bad I might add). Don't try to ...

Re: Poll: God Fixation (1998)

By this time, it appeared to me that the band was losing it. Where was Bob? The music was all over the place and it just seemed like without John's voice, you wouldn't recognize this as Petra music. With that being said, my favorite song on the album is "St. Augustine's Pears".

Re: Poll: Petra Praise 2 - We Need Jesus (1997)

Another Praise album that I now appreciate as an older guy. Don't necessarily know if that's a good thing or not...but hey - we all get there. "We Need Jesus" is my pick for this album.

Re: Poll: No Doubt (1995)

What's going on here? This album was probably the worst of the Schlitt era for me, a huge disappointment. But at the same time, the BEST song from the Schlitt era for me comes from the same CD! " No Doubt " is my all time favorite ballad sung by John. That's a tall order I know - but if I wanted Joh...

Re: Poll: Wake-Up Call (1993)

Another rocking CD that continued that successful hard sound that Petra became known for in the 90s. Awesome guitar rifts from " Midnight Oil " and " Underneath The Blood ". But at the same time there were the powerful songs that seemed perfect for invitation. I really loved " Just Reach Out " and c...

Hard to follow the success of Beyond Belief but Unseen Power was a great album that solidified the band's unique sound and vocals. "Dance" is my hands down favorite tune from this album...

Re: Poll: Beyond Belief (1990)

FINALLY! I couldn't believe it, but the Schlitt era Petra finally hit the mother lode with this record. With Beyond Belief , Bob Hartman proved he could still write top shelf chart smashing songs and John Schlitt proved he could produce a magic all of his own. This album sealed the deal for me and w...

Re: Poll: Petra Praise - The Rock Cries Out (1989)

I remember buying this record on CD in 1990, this was my second Petra album I purchased on the "new" compact disc format (my first was " On Fire " the previous year). I was not a fan of the praise music concept because it sounded too much like jazzed-up youth group music to me. The reason I didn't b...
