Re: Live It Loud!

Great to hear Bob's interview about Petra! I wonder if John will ever interview Greg.

Petra Classic

I guess Greg & the boys had a change of heart when it came to naming the band "CPR." Here's a quick glance at the new "Petra Classic" CD. The album's called "Takeaway." Check out their Facebook page! I'm "hungry" for more!

Re: CPR

Is this CPR project ever gonna be released? Has a date even been set?? Kirk Henderson recently told me that he had to re-record a few guitar parts and that he didn't know when it would be released. Hopefully soon! T'would have been nice to have rocked out to the newly recorded "It Is Finished" in t...

I remember seeing Greg X. Volz on tour right after the release of his 1991 album The Exodus. One standout moment that evening was of him hitting a high note whilst doing a high kick a la David Lee Roth.

Re: Thanks Giving Song

Greg X. Volz recorded a song on his solo album Ready or Not... Here He Comes! called "I Thank the Lord;" however, I wouldn't recommend singing (or even listening to) this song. We try not to talk about this chapter of Greg's ministry.

Re: Unseen Power Review

By the fall of 1991, I had worn the tape thin on my Beyond Belief & Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out cassettes and was eagerly looking forward to Petra's next album. Before the Internet, the only way one could remain aware of new releases was to regularly visit the local Christian bookstore. In the ...

Re: Atheist Petra Fans

Am I the only one who wishes this thread would migrate over to "Other Topics?" While I still find this thread improperly categorized and in particular "boring" as neither side will ultimately persuade the other, I wonder if "St. Augustine's Pears" is Petra's only attempt at tackling the subject mat...

For whatever reason, this album has always felt a bit out of place to me in Petra's catalog, but I've never put my finger on exactly why.
Perhaps it was because John fell prey to the Unseen Power of the puffy shirt.

Re: Back to the Rock review

I wonder why it took Jesus Freak Hideout so long to review this album. Hopefully they won't wait 7 years to review Back to the Rock II.

Whenever anyone brings up this lineup of Petra, I always think of Coy & Vance.

Re: CPR

In think they should have just called themselves X band or Greg X. The CPR name reminds me of GHF, LRB and other 3 letter acronym flops. Shame they can just use the name Petra because they are more Petra than any Petra lineup after 1996. "X Band" sounds too much like a redux of King's X which Kirk ...

Re: CPR

It doesn't say "Back to the Rock II", it says "Back to the Rock MINUS II". The same people who made back to the rock, minus two. When they recorded the first Back to the rock, they said there would be a second album with more Petra songs. My guess is that this is what they are doing now but two of ...
