Re: Poll: Favorite song from Petra (1974)

So can anyone say what the GHF albums are like? I've never actually seen one, or heard one... are they good? I saw them listed on Petraspective, and was curious if anyone actually had them, or at least heard one.

Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly

I thought Schlitt and Weaver hated each other... wouldn't this be the first time they've worked together since 2002? I still wish they could make an album... but they can't

Re: Poll: Favorite song from Petra (1974)

I think it's funny that Bob Hartman kept the name after they (the originals) disbanded. I also think that the "New And Improved" across the top of WWT is funny - It really was a new and improved Petra!

"Get On Your Knees..." is my favorite too, perhaps my favorite Petra song ever!

Re: Poll: Petra Praise 2 - We Need Jesus (1997)

My "favorite" song on this album has gotta be one of the ones I can't pick... "Medley", "We Need Jesus", and "Lord I Lift Your Name On High" are the only ones I can tolerate :) I still remember when they played "Lord I Lift You Name On High" on the radio - the first Petra song I ever heard!

Re: Poll: God Fixation (1998)

Petra had already disbanded by this point; there was just some other band using that name. It would make more sense to me if they had marked all the albums from 1996-2001 as John Schlitt solo albums, considering the only other Petra member left was Weaver, who admittedly didn't affect their sound mu...

Re: What will you tolerate?

That's basically what I'm trying to say; nonbelievers can be invited to a church, but obviously wouldn't be members. Those who claim to be "Christians" but don't live like it are the same as any other nonbelievers.

Re: What will you tolerate?

The modern church has pretty effectively eliminated any real "dealing" with sin. To say that there should be "a place for homosexuals in the church" is wrong; to say that someone is a homosexual implies that they are actively living that way, which is not to be tolerated by the church. The Bible tea...

Re: Driscoll is done.

One thing I've noticed about the apostles' healing in contrast with the modern concept is that the apostles never were paid for it. They never went on TV either. When identifying false teachers, start first by eliminating all the ones who are getting rich on it.

Re: What will you tolerate?

There was just a big stir recently that the leader of Jars of Clay had stated that there was "nothing wrong" with homosexuality (or "sodomy", to use biblical language). Honestly, I don't have any references to direct sources, but was told by people that I trust (my pastor included) that this band wa...

Re: What will you tolerate?

All the more reason to buy their music!! I believe the immensity of grace can only be understood by people who have realized they have fallen deep. It is more honest to admit you are struggling with something and then try to look at things through the light of grace, than having a fine appearance w...

Re: Another post-CP Volz vid

I listened to the Aerosmith song once to see what Volz was covering, but I only listen to Christian music, so I didn't bother with anything more. I wasn't much impressed with Aerosmith, and thought Volz sounded nice enough, but that it was a pretty pointless song. In general, I find secular songs a ...

Re: Petra at Illinois State Fair

Crowd funding has gotta be better than record company funding... the big corporations never have good ideas. And the only alternative to those is no funding, which is pretty rough, too.

Re: Songs from Double Take that you like more than the origi

I can't stand DT! It sounds horrible! I can sort-of tolerate "The Longing" but nothing else. The remakes weren't bad just because they were worse than the originals, but the tunes didn't fit at all! Many of them were originally very powerful, but they lost all of that on DT. The flat boring music fi...

Re: Songs that meant nothing to you back then, but today....

Wow, you would skip Adonai? That's like most of the album! It's a curious list... some really good songs that should never be skipped, and some that are just weird songs I never hear anyway :) I would skip "I Can Be Friends With You" and "I'm Not Ashamed", but never "All the Kings Horses" I don't ha...
