But then we wouldn't have "Wake Up Call" which is one of their best sounding albums. I would rather they skipped everything post WUC and went straight to "Jekyll & Hyde".brent wrote:If they could have done this right after CITAS and then bypassed all of the J&D records, then I would have been one happy cat.

Re: 'More Power To Ya' and 'This Means War' to be reissued.
It will not sound better. Remastered usually = removing all of the dynamic range by smashing the liven'-crap out of it with a limiter, and then EQ'ing it to put some top end and low end back into it, giving it a "modern" curve. In light of recent discussions about the production quality of older Pe...

Re: 'More Power To Ya' and 'This Means War' to be reissued.
The remastering process does sometimes involved remixing, but it'll still say "Remastered" on the cover. Those are two different processes. These two processes are completely different, done in two distinctly different environments, with distinctly different gear. True remixing requires the discret...

Let's put it this way: not all remasters are created equal.

Re: 'More Power To Ya' and 'This Means War' to be reissued.
I'm also curious about "Remastered" and what that means. It can mean anything, from simply transferring existing recordings from one format to another, to painstakingly reconstructing material from original elements. The former usually doesn't look or sound dramatically better than the original rec...

The buzzword "remastered" really isn't worth getting excited about until we know the details because it's one of those terms that can really mean anything.

I saw the press kit with my own eyes since I happened to attend GMA that year.

Re: WARNING: New Compilation About To Be Released
If Word wasn't actively trying to sabotage Petra at the GMA that year then it shows that they at least didn't care enough about the band to make sure they were well presented (seriously, letting interns put together a press packet without double checking their work?). Either way, it was definitely t...

Re: WARNING: New Compilation About To Be Released
I know in the case of Word, their relationship with the band had soured to the point that at that year's GMA week, Word circulated a press packet featuring a scathing review of "Double Take".

Re: Back To The Rock Live Expanded CD/Download
You can listen to the entire album for free on Classic Petra's website. It's pretty clear right from the start that it's not just a studio album with a piped in audience. Bob even flubs the guitar solo in "Bema Seat" but recovers with a little improvisation and continues on without missing a beat, w...

Re: Back To The Rock Live Expanded CD/Download
Listening to the web preview and it sounds like an honest to goodness live album. Might actually be worth buying now. So... I'm confused. It sounds more like a live album, and it is kind of a live album, in that it's the recording of the show they did in Nashville. But it includes in-studio additio...

Seems he could at least rip that particular track as an MP3, but of course, that would eliminate his biggest selling point.

Re: Killing My Old Man off Come & Join US
I'm pretty sure the version of "Killing My Old Man" on Never Say Day is the recording that was cut from Come And Join Us. Or was the song cut before it was recorded? I don't remember.
