Re: Petra - Rainbow Music Hall - Denver, CO (soundboard) 3-20-1982

This stuff is golden. I would love to see recordings like this properly mastered and released officially. There's a lot that can be done with modern software to clean up these recordings and make a really great sounding live album. Check out Girder Records. I believe they have re-released the Captu...

Re: AI Singers

We've already had essentially AI singers for decades thanks to AutoTune. And then everything is locked to the beat in ProTools which completely removes the human element from music. Rick Beato on YouTube took some current pop songs and randomly moved stuff around in ProTools, and it still sounded fi...

Re: The compilation we didn't know we needed...

I suppose it's a nice collection for someone who doesn't already own every Petra album, but for a longtime fan like me, I have zero interest. I'm also suspicious of the "remastering" since none of the original tapes exist for the older material (not sure about the John and Dino produced albums) mean...

Re: analysis: Why do we stop exploring new music as we get older?

I'm in my 50's and haven't stopped exploring new music. On the contrary, my taste in music has become more diverse over time.

Re: U2 “Double Take” album

Unlike Petra's "Double Take", U2's "Songs of Surrender" is mostly terrible. And now they've announced a residency gig in Vegas minus founding member Larry Mullen, Jr. (starting the band was his idea), so I think we're seeing the beginning of the end of the group. It seems that Bono and Edge are dete...

Re: New Material

Thing is, you can't do public ministry like that without money. Even Jesus had people who supported him financially, and a treasurer to keep track of it.

Re: The Dream Team reunion?

I would love for it to happen, especially if it leads to new recordings -- new songs or a live album -- but I'm really not expecting it to happen. I doubt there'd be enough money in it to break even, unless some rich guy just wants to bankroll it for his own amusement.

Re: New Material

I remember having to hunt for my copy of "Jekyll & Hyde" because none of the local Christian bookstores bothered to order it. I think I found it at Best Buy of all places, so it doesn't surprise me it wasn't it great seller. But with digital distribution and streaming, albums are more accessible tha...

Re: New Stryper album: "The Final Battle" (2022)

There is no ambiguity in the lyrics. Stryper is an unapologetically Christian band.

Re: New Stryper album: "The Final Battle" (2022)

This record has some familiar parts repeated on the last couple and Michael's solo records. So, if anyone liked those, they will like this one. They seem to have hit the wall that every metal band seems to hit after a while, where they've used every riff they know and have to start recycling. I'm n...

A new full album would be great, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

New Stryper album: "The Final Battle" (2022)

Stryper just released another new album, and it's pretty awesome. How is it that they've managed to stay relevant and successful while staying true to their musical roots? Christian bands aren't supposed to be capable of that. I don't know how much studio trickery is being used, but Michael Sweet so...

Re: New project featuring John Schlitt

I didn't really care for the band until John started singing, and then it kinda rocked. John seems to be one of those singers who can make anything sound epic, and I think the band would be improved with a better vocalist. If you listen to female fronted metal bands like Evanescence, Nightwish, or E...
