Re: Classic Petra's New Album - A Bit of an Update!

Brent, why are you so convinced that Classic Petra has been a financial flop? If that were the case, why haven't they folded? If anything, they have played way more dates then any of us thought they would this year and more keep coming. No plans have been changed as far as new music is concerned, j...

I think the band members' priorities should be whatever reliably pays the bills, and I'm guessing Classic Petra ain't it.

Re: Is Anyone Else Amazed by Bob?

I remember in an interview John Schlitt once described Bob Hartman. He said something to the effect of Bob isn't flashy, he doesn't jump around, he doesn't draw attention to himself, he just stands off to the side and quietly does his thing and does it really, really well.

Re: just wondering

I'll just put it like this: we agree on a fundamental level, that is we both believe that God is soveriegn and that he takes an active interest in the affairs of men. Our disagreement is simply over the extent of God's involvement. I am of the opinion that it is less than what you think, and you are...

Re: just wondering

Mountain Man, Now, the fact that God uses the obedience of men to bring about supernatural things is by no means an argument for God's limited involvement in the affairs of men. In fact, it serves to prove what I have been saying. God is involved and he uses those who obey and those who disobey to ...

Re: just wondering

Regarding Pharoah, I suppose it's possible that God overrode his freewill and forced him to harden his heart, but I don't believe he actually did and that you're reading scripture too literally (just as you read "A man's steps are directed by the LORD" too literally). "God hardened Pharoah's heart"...

Re: just wondering

There are two things that I take issue with here: First of all, you assume that the verses you quoted support your view and support it exclusively. This is, of course, not the case. Yes, God does guide our steps, but he doesn't do it directly. Rather, it is through his revealed will -- that is scri...

Re: just wondering

The thing that strikes me as interesting is that I provided scriptures to back up my point and this is something that no one arguing for the other side has done nor have they made any effort to answer for the scriptures I posted. The scriptures are very clear that God directs the affairs of men and...

Re: just wondering

To put it another way, while God used Petra's success, I do not believe he caused it. Because of man's free will and because Christians try to find out what God wants for them and (hopefully) tries to follow that, I think God influences Christians to an extent but not so much people who believe the...

Re: just wondering

It isn't the job of anyone on the Petra fansite to question another persons faith. The original post was asking about Christian rock bands from the 80's and why only a couple are still around. If you think that using Jonah or Job are good examples as to why concert tickets cd's are bought or why ra...

Re: just wondering

You guys are missing the point. It's not about God micromanaging the affairs of men, though there are those who believe he does, that's not what I'm talking about. The Bible is abundantly clear that God is not hands off when it comes to the affairs of men. He is sovereign over everything, he makes ...

Re: just wondering

I've agreed with Preacher throughout this post because I see him taking & talking about the Godly view in this; the thing that I fail to understand is Brent's point of view on the "market because up until the last few posts he seems to leave God out of the equation all together. He made it seem tha...
