Re: Acoustic cover albums

In other words, there ain't that many of them, so it's not hard to say DT is "one of the best" in that category... I'd agree that it's a good album, and it's an album that probably deserved a Grammy because of its technical talent and overall appeal to Grammy voters... Actually, there have been qui...

They deserved to win for Double Take as well. It's an excellent album, easily one of the best acoustic cover albums ever made.

Susannah wrote:"I Am on the Rock", which sounds just like Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me".
Actually, they sound nothing alike. Well, except that they're both arena rock anthems, I don't think the songs have much else in common as the melodies are distinctly different.

Unless you're prepared to call Bob Hartman a liar, I'd reckon that it really is a coincidence.

What was it Solomon said? Something about "nothing new under the sun"?

Trust me, the entire CD is chock full of some the juiciest riffs you'll ever hear on any rock album. I don't mind the lack of solos because if you just pay attention to Bob's playing, you'll get all the guitar licks you could ever want. Regarding the album mix, I think it's perfect. Too short? Maybe...

If you look back you'll see that I was saying the "Christian Band" label was meaningless. And I really don't think it is. When someone calls themselves a Christian whatever , they are making a bold proclimation of their faith. A "Christian artist" is an artist who puts Christ first; a "Christian fi...

Who cares if they want to call themselves a Christian band? Is it really imporant, in the immortal scheme of things? You're misunderstanding the fundamental problem I have with their actions. This is not a simple semantic nitpick. I could care less if someone calls themselves a Christian band or a ...

I wonder. Since when is calling ones self a "Christian band" in any way shape or form equal to an authentic and vibrant faith in Christ? I'm talking about those bands that happen to get a crossover hit then start actively distancing themselves from Christianity. "Christian band? Who, us? Oh, no no ...

The whole "we're just Christians in a band" defense seems to be bandied about groups that don't want to take a popularity hit for being associated with Christianity, and I think it is very disingenious of them. I'm reminded of the verse where Jesus says something like, "If you are ashamed of me then...

Why would the community have to disperse? Last time I checked, there was still a thriving community of Beatles fans, and the the Beatles broke up almost 30 years ago!

Yes, there are a lot of "oopses" on Petra's offical site. Rather embarassing, really.

Thing is, you can't deal with liberals. Extending an olive branch by conceding certain issues is not going to buy you an ounce of favor with them. You have to understand, to a liberal, conservatives are evil and must be defeated at any and all costs. Sure, they'll gladly take any issue we're willing...

Mountian Man, I guess, for me, adultery has always implied an extra-marrital affair, and I hate when people say that Amy and Vince WERE HAVING an affair while both were still married. I never said that they had an affair. I was using adultry in the Biblical sense, meaning they are having a relation...
