Re: Boray's Petra Covers

What software did you use? I used to play around with Music Construction Set on the C64 and Amiga.

It does seem odd.

Re: The Making Of Back To The Street

Re: Lack of Louie....They didn't need no stink in' drummer. It's a shame, because with the way he played on WUC & PP2 it would have added so much to the sound. Brent is exaggerating (slightly). My understanding is that it basically worked like this: Louie would come in and lay down a drum track, th...

Re: The Making Of Back To The Street

So based on that short clip, Mark Kelly is apparently the fastidious one.

Re: From Facebook - new Petra album info

Beyond Belief has me curious, but for the most part I'd say no John songs ...except Back to the Street. Wasn't that originally written with Greg in mind? Depends on which rumor you listen to. Some say that it was supposed to be a Greg Volz album, but others say that it was actually written after Vo...

Best Petra vocalist? I'd say all of them. Except perhaps Pete Orta.

Re: some new old videos

John had awesome hair. He actually inspired my own hairstyle for many years until I got too thin on top and started looking like Krusty the Clown.

Incorrect. The fact is that objectively speaking, early Petra albums are the same overall quality as other artists of the day.

That you prefer certain stylistic choices over those employed by early Petra is based on opinion.

Re: CP-New Record

I may not know the technical side of the process, but my ears tell me there is a huge difference especially for the Journey/Petra combo from above. Compared to the Journey sound the Petra sound is very tinty with a lack of punch and fullness. On the Petra clip you can hear the cymbals vibrate when ...

Boray wrote:...or they just didn't include his guitar when mixing the album. I never play with a pick. I have built in picks. They are called nails. I don't play piano with gloves either. ;-)
That may be true, but from the clip, it's clear that Greg prefers a pick.

Re: Thought about Greg X

On that second clip, he doesn't have a pick through most of the song. Watch carefully: first he checks his pockets, then he tries to signal to a stage hand to bring him one by holding up his hand with thumb and forefinger pressed together, and finally around the 1:35 mark, he walks over and grabs on...

Re: CP-New Record

I guess they are wasting a lot of resources by re recording the songs thirty years later since they did a bang up job the first time. They did do a bang-up job the first time. That's not why they're rerecording them. They're doing it because production techniques have changed over the years, and th...

Re: CP-New Record

No offense, but I really don't think you guys have any idea what you're talking about. No dynamics? If anything, that Rez cut lacks dynamics because everything is compressed to sound loud and "in your face" instead of allowing the music to have a natural ebb and flow. I think that would be even more...
