Lonnie Chapin

Post by crossways » Sun Feb 20, 2005 10:06 pm

I just got back from Winter Jam. Everybody was very good. Michael Tait and Toby Mac did a DC Talk tune! Michael Tait said that there was going to be a DC Talk project in the works in the next year or two.

When Tait came out though I didn't see Lonnie. Sure enough he introduced someone else as the bass player.

Where has Lonnie gone? Is this new news or old news?

Okay, two things

1. By saying that Michael Tait announced that dc talk is doing another album, you are giving out the biggest news in Christian Rock music so far this year.
2. Are Tait's Lonnie, and Petra's Lonnie the same? Because I know they have the same name, and they look kinda alike....but I've never heard anything about that....

Yes, both Lonnie's are one in the same. Lonnie left Petra to be in the band Tait with his brother.

Tait talked for about 5 minutes or so about how everyone wants to know if DC Talk is going to get together and when and so on. Then he said that the three of them had gotten together a while back for dinner and a breakfast the next day. He said all of that time was very positive, and they were excited at the thought of doing something together again. Then he said that there was going to be a DC Talk project within the next couple of years, but for now folks would have to enjoy the solo stuff.

Now he didn't say "new album", but that was the impression I got. But for sure DC Talk is going to do something as DC TAlk.

I spoke to Lonnie's brother Chad when Tait played here a couple weeks ago, and Lonnie came up in the conversation. Chad said Lonnie is doing well, and happy just being a husband LOL...

I will believe it when I see. It's interesting what they were able to do with Jesus Freak...transcending so many genres...hopefully they will do something fresh and original again. And not let Toby rap all over it.

Toby sounds very cool rapping - but i know what you mean, I wouldn't want him to hijack the singing roles of Tait and Max. I hope to hear bold lyrics like those of DC Talk in the 90's, not obscure, unclear lyrics like on Toby's Momentum.
