Poll: More Power to Ya (1982)
Keeping up with Petra's fifth album...
Didja know... the album features a backmasked message intended for people that went crazy with the subliminal message trend? The message says "What are you lookin' for the devil for when you oughta be lookin' for the Lord?".

A lot of great songs here, but it's not even close for me. "Judas' Kiss" might be on my Petra Top 5. After that, maybe "Let Everything that Hath Breath", "Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows" or "Second Wind".

Honestly, it's too hard for me to pick just one song. This is my favorite Volz era album.

This is a top 5 album for me and the only one in the Volz era. Judas' Kiss is one of those signature songs that any artist dreams on having.

Old news. It was recorded by John Slick.Thief wrote:Keeping up with Petra's fifth album...

lol, I am the one vote for All over me. Took me years to even listen to this song without skipping it. As I have aged, the bluesy feel of it and I feel a great and emotional vocal performance by Volz. Very basic lyrics and even music I suppose, but has been very powerful for me over the last 5 or 6 years.

Road to Zion is a great song. I heard The Franz family sing Road to Zion at our church, great version. I really like John's version of RCSGW.

There is a road inside of you; inside of me there is one too.

Random fun fact... I once sang "Road to Zion" with John Schlitt sitting in the audience. No, I'm not that great of a performer He was speaking/singing at our church and the opening band were big Petra fans, so they did a few Volz-era songs. John loved it. The lead singer of the band invited me to come up and sing Road to Zion with him. Fun times!

Re: Poll: More Power to Ya (1982)
THIS is my favorite Petra album of all time. I love every song on this album and they all speak to me. I really like the last song too because Mark Kelly sings on it with Greg Volz. With Mark singing though, does it not sound like a different band altogether? It is wild how a lead singer can surely define the sound of a group.
Greg has/has such an awesome voice. I like a lot of the Schlitt era Petra too but the Volz era is close to my heart as they were the first Christian band I was introduced to. I wore this tape out and had to buy another one Now it's on CD and MP3 in my computer so it'll never wear out
I like Run for the Prize. I love the vocals and the center part of that song. I also loved the solo, which just seemed to be more intense than the others....except maybe with the guitar line on Judas Kiss....
As a keyboardist myself, I loved the solos in the first two songs as well. I do not remember many bands at that time giving the solo spotlight to the keyboardist...
Every song here is a keeper though..
Grace,
Harry

There a so many great tracks on this record, but "More Power To Ya" still grips me emotionally. Road to Zion is another great song that runs a close second. Judas Kiss was a great draw for kids in my era.
