Petra in the late 90's
Just watching some stuff from 97-98 and Pete Orta is/was an annoying guitar player. Maybe he has mellowed out these days, but man he was too much of a showman back in those days. Just a lot of stupid moves on songs that didn't need that kind of stuff going on.

I think it was just a sign of the times. Band members in the mid to late 90s with grunge,etc. did that kind of stuff. The only beef I have with that era is that they never played the classics with the same sound as the originals and I think it hurt them. The guitar riffs were completely different on a lot of the songs. I mean, either be a different band or don't be but don't screw up the best parts. To me, that was stupid.

I don't think I ever saw him live, not even on video. I'll have to look around in YouTube.

I didn't mind the lineup with Pete Orta in it, he did have some moves that were slightly retarded, but he was still enjoyable to watch. John had a high energy on stage with Pete around.
