Favorite Schlitt-era album
Aside of the praise and live albums, what is your favorite John Schlitt era album?

Re: Favorite Schlitt-era album
I myself might be torn between On Fire! and Beyond Belief. Would probably go with one of those.

Re: Favorite Schlitt-era album
Wake Up Call is not only the best Schlitt-era album, it's one of Petra's best albums, period. It and More Power To Ya are my two top favorites.

I think this is more or less accurate, but a lot of those are really a toss-up.

This obviously subjective, and tough to do. I could make arguments for some of those albums being higher. No Doubt for example, I really like the title cut, Right Place, Heart of a Hero, Sincerely Yours. There's good stuff there.
On the other hand, Beyond Belief should perhaps be lower in my list. There are great songs on there. However, if I had the first 7 albums in front of me to listen to, I would probably
choose any of the other 6 before I would choose BB. If I were making a compilation of all those albums based on the songs that have touched me and that I really like, which is a great idea, tghe title cut from BB would likely be the only song included from that album.

Re: Favorite Schlitt-era album
I agree on how subjective it is. If I were to do the same exercise, I would probably end with 4 or 5 songs from BB on my compilation ("Creed", "Love", "Beyond Belief", "Prayer", and maybe "I Am on the Rock").gman wrote: This obviously subjective, and tough to do. Re: Favorite Schlitt-era album
Ok, seriously asking, I keep seeing people rate "Wake Up Call" as their highest rated album, which is their prerogative as it's a good album. Is it the music or personal perspective that makes it #1 for you? If it's music, once again, no argument intended, which song out of the entire of "Wake Up Call" is better than any of these songs on "On Fire": All Fired Up, Hit You Where You Live, Mine Field, Defector, Counsel of the Holy, Stand in the Gap? Those are six outstanding songs. I just want to know what six songs on "Wake Up Call" are better in your opinion that would lead "Wake Up Call" to be rated higher. Please share your stories/opinions.

It only takes one song to defeat all that you listed. In my mind Underneath The Blood blows all the songs you listed out of the water.

Re: Favorite Schlitt-era album
I list it as my number one because it has a great sound compared to the Elefante produced albums. It sounds like real instruments played by real people without the overly processed tone of previous albums. Plus every song on it is great. I can't think of a single song that I don't enjoy listening to. It's also an ensemble album with multiple band members (Hartman, Lawry, Cates, and Schlitt) sharing song writing credits which sets it apart from any other Petra album.
