That would be neat to hear but will probably never materialize. I only say that because when John was teaching Greg the parts to "No Doubt" on the Farewell video, I got the feeling that Greg didn't listen to John Schlitt's Petra. But, hey, one can always dream on! Sorry...another GXV solo reference.

Re: CPR
I totally agree with you and I really don't want a full album of remakes especially since Greg has been boasting on facebook about having enough new material ready to make several albums. The mix the The Union of Sinners & Saints was the perfect mix, and their new material was very good especially for a new band.Mountain Man wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2017 8:42 amSo it's all remakes? Back to the Rock was fun and all, but I really don't want any more remake albums. Seems like Greg is trying to recapture his glory days.fcollazo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2017 8:23 pmhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?time_contin ... 1aRMNBdLx8
CPR Nashville Sessions. Posted on Greg's website.
Come on, guys, take a lesson from The Union of Sinners and Saints and give us some new music!

Re: CPR
Not really excited about these selections. Judas Kiss is really overdone and nothing has ever even come close to the original; I do like the selections of "All Over Me' ,"Praise Ye The Lord", & "For Annie" I wasn't really a fan of Greg's "Dream On" due to lack of the emotion and soul that it brought; that song needs that to hit it and he didn't get it. "Not Of This World" great lyrical content but that song has always moved way too slow for me and frankly I never got it.John Boy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2017 1:52 pmSo far I believe seven of the new songs are "Judas' Kiss," "It Is Finished," "Dream On," "All Over Me," "Praise Ye The Lord," "Not Of This World," and "For Annie." It's not a bad list. There are some on this list I'd replace with others, so hopefully the rest of the album will surprise me. That's just my opinion. Everyone will have an opinion about the album. I'm just glad to hear some stuff and see these guys working together.

Re: CPR
I guess we should have known these 3 songs were bound to be on the follow up to Back to the Rock as they were added to the Classic Petra set list on the latter leg of the tour.
And then there's this...
And then there's this...

I actually heard Volz's version before I ever heard the original, and I thought the original was a terrible joke in comparison first time I heard it. While the Aerosmith version has grown on me, I still consider Volz's "Dream On" to be the definitive version. I recognize that this is not a popular opinion.executioner wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2017 7:55 pmI wasn't really a fan of Greg's "Dream On" due to lack of the emotion and soul that it brought; that song needs that to hit it and he didn't get it.

Re: CPR
Not to take away from John Lawry's contribution to Petra, but I bristle at the notion of referring to him as one of "the ones who started it all" as in the promo video. Really, that would be best used to describe the GHF guys, but in the context of major success, you'd have to be talking about John Slick instead of John Lawry in terms of "starting it all".
Also, it's funny how history repeats itself. Mark Kelly was replaced by Ronny Cates, and Bob Hartman was replaced by the guitarist from the lead vocalist's solo band.

Re: CPR
I totally agree! But probably, whichever one you hear first is going to remain your favorite (unless you hate both). I don't see any point in doing a new version, though... I would much rather have new material.Mountain Man wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2017 3:03 pmI actually heard Volz's version before I ever heard the original, and I thought the original was a terrible joke in comparison first time I heard it. Unfortunately, yes. It appears to be their new album cover. I wonder if Randy Rogers, the guy who did all their flying guitar illustrations, is still around.
