Re: "The Greater Cause" - John's New CD
Hey guys - I'm sure most of you have made some sort of pledge, or are considering it... as of right now John's at $4729 pledged by 48 backers... so close to the $5000 mark... would love to have $300 more pledged by the end of today so I could call John in the middle of the night, wake him up and say "HEY! Guess what?!?! You hit the $5000 mark today!"
I don't think he (or Dorla) would mind news like that!

LOVE Sands of Time! Its sooo Schlitt isn't it? I love the "to let me know if its me whoa yeahhh" parts - John kills em!Jan wrote:petheadeast: Yeah, very cool name! So you're a Head East fan - do you like Sands of Time? I love that one! Maybe as much as NBAR and SYBG.
Also, Every Little Bit of My Heart, Man I Wanna Be, Open up the Door are also among my faves.. and just while we are on the "off"topic of Head East, if anyone is interested in seeing classic concert footage (WITH JOHN) - http://www.wolfgangsvault.com has just launched their video section online - they have thousands of never before seen concerts of various artists from the 60s-80s.. So far they havent released Head East footage, but its confirmed that they have video of Head East Live at Winterland on 11/5/77 in their archives - If you'd like to see it drop them a note and maybe they'll finally release it
I also have a couple Head East vids (more coming) that include some Super 8 footage on my youtube page - http://www.youtube.com/user/headeastrocks

I called him! And he was awake (I was taking a 50/50 chance... he's an early to bed - early to rise-r).

Truth be told I was actually a bit sick the week of this performance - which was such a bummer cause the venue was great! But the crowd was so good I couldnt resist posting it anyway! Hehe. BUT we got hired to play there again this summer opening for Three Dog Night, so I'm hoping to get a better performance posted.. cause I mean you need those "Whaaaa"s in there! haha - Its in Kirksville, MO (Petra played there!!) I believe in 2002..? Truman college is what most people know the town for. Good school.

Re: "The Greater Cause" - John's New CD
I work with guys who played in bands with the current Head East members, work with a guy who is related to a current Head East member, and I have seen the current version many times. They are mostly local guys that have other bands/businesses. So, at the risk of getting myself in trouble, I will say, I do not like the current version of Head East, it is not Head East, Roger only goes out once in a while. The band in the video has more connection to Head East than the Head East band has, and they play the songs far better. I would pay to see the young kids rock. You would have to pay me to see Head East play.

You and your band sound great! You're so young I'm impressed you even know who Head East is! In fact, you're way more familiar with them than I am....all I know is what was played on the radio in the 70's. In my hometown they didn't play them much at all. I only heard Sands of Time on YouTube last year...a guy put it up twice and it got taken off both times, so I got it from ITunes.
You mentioned Three Dog Night - that was one of my favorite 70's bands!! They had a song "One Man Band" that I loved. Really, they had alot of good ones. Their drummer Floyd Sneed was incredible! And they harmonized so well too. Man, we had a lot of great music in the 70's...we thought rock would live forever.

I plan to pledge soon. I have a great deal of gratitude toward John and Petra.
Am deciding on the amount. Thanks to all who have already pledged.

I think it's awesome that John will be doing a new rock album. I am so glad he listened to the fans who wanted a brand new cd instead of a "best-of" album with only a few new songs! I will support this plans, and of course "pledge" some money to it! I am looking forward to another quality release by John Schlitt - The Voice Of Christian Rock!

Re: "The Greater Cause" - John's New CD
If I were rich, I'd fund the remainder of the project myself as a "thank you" for the influence Petra had on my life as a kid in the '90's.
HOWEVER, I am but a poor school teacher/occasional musician. I'll look to pledge something before the deadline, but I don't have the resources to go to the heavy amounts. I hope he's able to reach his goal.
