Another artist doing a cover of Jekyll & Hyde????

Post by mattheisner » Tue Feb 07, 2006 11:46 am

Hey, I saw that Plumb's new album that'll be out 2/28/06 has a track on it titled "Jekyll & Hyde".

Anybody know if she's doing a cover of Petra's song or if it'll be her own original song that happens to have the same name?

My guess would be it's a different song with the same name. If it is Petra's song, she'd have had to get permission to use it or risk a lawsuit. Petra doesn't have the copyright on the name though, that's been around for quite a long time. It was the title of a book, a number of movies and even a musical.

I just listened to a clip on amazon.com and it's not the Petra version; it's another song with the same name. Which is good, she has a wonderful voice, but she doesn't have the right type of voice to do a cover of a Petra song.

I think she could pull off a Volz-era song.

Not like that ridiculous Caprill Champion.

If she were to cover it, she wouldn't need permisssion per se. All she has to pay is 8.5 cents per song.
