New single: Would'a, Should'a, Could'a ??

Post by Kirkman » Thu Feb 12, 2004 1:20 pm

Someone posted on my PRTW messageboard saying Inpop was releasing a new single and that it would be Would'a, Should'a, Could'a.

Anyone confirm if this is true?

ChristianRock.net has it posted as being released this week, and my station in my area also says the same thing.

The Kross

Post by Michael » Thu Feb 12, 2004 5:34 pm

Here's what a DJ from the station here told me:

"They do have a new song & it's the one you mentioned. We put it on Sink or Swim last week & it went down hard. It sounded pretty cool though!!!"

You see what I mean? That's exactly what I was referring to in a previous thread. It's like people are going out of their way to diss Petra.

I wonder if that particular radio station announced beforehand the band was Petra before the song aired and that's why it tanked.

What I meant was if the radio station announced the name of the band being Petra before playing Woulda Coulda Shoulda, people who are not fond of Petra may have made a special effort to "sink" the song by calling in and telling the DJ to lose it just because they don't want to hear Petra.

For example, BillDD would be a likely listener who might do something like that.

Just a theory. :)

Sorry, at this point that is a horrible theory with no basis or facts to support it even remotely. It's not even fair to say that. Did you ever think that it might be possible that some people just don't like the song? That's a much more feasable theory. I don't really think that this conspiracy theory that some of you have concocted about the world hating Petra and wanting to see them fail holds any water. In fact, from my experience, there are a lot of people who are glad to see Petra back on the scene.

First of all, you can't just assume that your experience is like everyone else's. While I agree that a lot of people are glad Petra is back, many people either couldn't care less and some even argue that Petra's music has been "cheesy" through the years. I have had heated debates with a college buddy of mine (as recently as three months ago) who fits this profile and he is not alone.

Even people in my Sunday School class ask me if I'm still listening to Petra. In fact someone asked me that last week beneath a grin.

I think you're reaching pretty far, though, to call it a conspiracy theory. I don't at all think there are people out there who want Petra's ministry to end. But I do know there are people out there who don't want to listen to Petra because it's Petra and have no other reason other than that it is Petra and could CONCEIVABLEY vote a song off the radio. That's all I was trying to say, so please don't make more of it than that.

My whole point is that it is unjust of you to start accussing people of purposely trying to get Petra off the radio just because they are Petra. I understand there are those who dislike Petra, but the way you make it out to be, people only hate Petra because they are Petra, not because they don't care for Petra's music, which is totally ludicrous. NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE THE MUSIC THAT PETRA PLAYS. I wish some of you would come to understand that and stop sulking about it.

2 high school buddies of mine will not under any circumstances listen to anything Petra has done in the last 15 years. They grew up listen to Christian Rock, but for some reason always picked on me and would says bad things about Petra and how their music sounds, and they do this til this day. These guys love that style of rock and everything, but they won't even let me play Petra when we are in the car together. Petra is a group that everybody either loves them or hates them, but you know what I'm ok with it because I know they are doing what God is telling them to do, and they will get their just reward.
Seperateunion I'm sorry but I think your living in a dream world, because what your saying is not reality.

Hehe. Jason is right folks, not everyone is going to like Petra, and it's unrealistic to expect everyone to. The people who don't like them are missing out on a good band.

I don't have a problem with the idea that not everyone will like them, but I do have a problem with people who obviously don't like them taking jabs at them to deliberately be hurtful.

Executioner, 2 people's views of Petra does not mean everyone feels that way. There are people like that when it comes to any musician or musical artist. The problem here is, you people seem to want to attribute anything negative that happens to Petra to people who choose to be ignorant of Petra, when in reality, most people who dislike Petra, dislike them because they do not like their music.

Unjust? Come on!! That's way over the top. Did they or did they not drop the song due to negative responses from the audience? Obviously, that's what they did. I can assure you that my college buddy I posted about earlier would have called in to have the radio station scrub the song had their been a Christian rock station in his area soliciting his feedback.

You are assuming everyone thinks the same way you do about music and bands, and that's just not the case.

And it's insulting to refer to me and others as "you people". We're all Petheads here.
