Never a fan of Godpleaser always felt like it was a filler song. 2nd wind is one of my all time favs, I'm not sure if I like this version or not. Waiting for the finished product.

In all honesty, I just think 30 second clips are just too short to form an informed opinion. Would be nice if we could get the minute and half clips like we got with the others. Makes it much easier to evaluate.

Agreed. "Second Wind" sounds pretty good, but the clip from "Godpleaser" is mostly music-free, so it's hard to tell. It's definitely my least-favorite of the choices for this album and one of my least-favorite Petra songs from that period (in fact I'm having a hard time thinking of a song I like less between NSD and BTS), so I don't expect I'll be thrilled with it, no matter what they do. Chances are, they're not using that song to go thrash on us.

I wonder why they would pick Godpleaser over many other songs. It just never has done anything for me.
I do wish the clips were longer. I won't be giving my review until I have the CD on my hand and listen to the final and complete product.
Has anyone heard any clips from the 2 new songs? I'm really eager to hear how they sound and who wrote them.

I kinda suspect that the new songs will be under wraps till release - they already said on the blog that clips of all the songs will not be released, and it seems like they've already released clips of all the original songs.

Personally I love "Godpleaser" - one of my favorites from NOTW. So I for one am happy to hear it!

Although both of these clips are a bit jolting for me as an "old" fan - Volz doesn't do the high notes that were here before - in fact, he sings higher of some of the other clips from this album (like Adonai) than he does on these two clips. My assumption is that this is on purpose - Greg's high pitched "wails" would probably sound silly to a lot of modern ears. But obviously you have to let Greg sound like himself, so I imagine it's been a tricky balancing act. You need Greg to sound like his old self enough to be recognizable and distinctive, with out making him sound absurd - high for the sake of high, you might say. Just my thoughts.

ENERGY!!! The audio is bad, but sounds like it was great live! Was anyone here at that concert? I guess most of you were still in diapers in 1988, but a few were old enough. Wish I had been there!

In my opinion, Second Wind is the better sample till now.

Of course, Re-records of Petra Classic could not be very different in style of what they did in 70´s and 80´s, but I realized more changes in the arrangements !!!

But samples are samples, let´s wait !!!

In my opinion, John Lawry is the highlights of the samples !!! But the other guys are very well too.

That video doesn't do John justice. He sounded pretty rough there. Greg's songs weren't right for John's voice, though he did get better at singing them over time, but I'd still rather hear Greg sing them any day. John really didn't come into his own until This Means War. By that time he had his vocal chops back under him and Petra was making the kind of music that was right for his vocal strengths.
