Farewell Petra Recording
Farewell Petra Recording
Why don't start a petition for a Farewell Petra new record with Christian Borneo on drums? I think they are sounding tight, and it could be just a matter of a Kickstarter project. They have been already "un-retired" on and off for the past 5 years. I think Bob could do it. If Greg X is putting out another solo album while working on the next one by Classic Petra, then why not another Farewell Petra album.
I was impressed by John's voice on this last Petra Concert in Venezuela. Did you guys noticed he even did the high pitched scream at the solo section of Dance with apparent ease? I think this is the time for a new Farewell Petra record, let's request it!!

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
We know of at least one song Bob had written for JAH that didn't make it on the album; plus Bob and Greg Bailey both had been quoted as saying a follow up to JAH was in the works and several songs had been completed back in 2004.
JAH is my favorite album and I would love to hear JAH II.

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
So you mean a new record with new music with the Farewell lineup? I thought you meant recording the "Farewell" concert with the same songs again, which I thought was pretty pointless.then why not another Farewell Petra album.

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
Main reason, (as sue stated) Bob is focused on Classic Petra right now.
Other reasons. A new album would mean a tour to promote it and make money on it. The reason why the last studio album failed to come together is because Petra was losing interest with promoters, inpop was already talking about a compilation album to raise interest for a new album, so they made their mind up it was time to retire Petra.

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
It amuses me when bands do a "farewell" project and then never actually retire.
Of course some bands do it simply to give themselves another boost in interest and sales, but I think in Petra's case they genuinely misjudged their own popularity. Perhaps they were hearing too much industry chatter telling them that they were washed up and needed to put out to pasture, and they started to believe it. "Farewell" is a nice album, but it almost has a subdued air of defeat about it. It seems like the band has a renewed sense of energy and fun now that they've put that behind them.

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
Good night. Give them a chance to be missed. Let it be. The more Petra product there in for sale, the less effective John's solo and CP's efforts will be. If Petra fans have less to choose from at once, they will support it more than all at once. It is all pure economics. Flood the market and nobody wins. Let them be for a while.
I for one would love to see John go out on a real tour with a full baaaad boy band and production, rather than see revived retired Petra.

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
What if Bob, John, Ronny, John L. and Louie got back together and did a reunion/farewell tour?

If it wasn't too volatile do you think it would be a success?

What recording were you listening to? The only ones I heard were such poor quality you couldn't tell if anyone was on or not!fcollazo wrote:I was impressed by John's voice on this last Petra Concert in Venezuela. Re: Farewell Petra Recording
I think it would not even get started as a tour. There is not enough business for the other two versions of Petra now. So, to slice up the pie into thirds is just silly to me. There would be too many incarnations of Petra and too much confusion. People cannot get it straight now (for reasons that escape me, because Bob is the only connection between Classic Petra and Retired Petra).petraman wrote:If it wasn't too volatile do you think it would be a success?
Before CP, I was all for it. Now that CP is here and John is working on the rock album, it would be counter productive to do anything more than one show or two. Maybe some promotor will waive enough money to get the guys interested for a one-off. The last time I spoke with John L about it, he was not into it, because of the amount of time and money it would take away from his normal schedule.

Re: Farewell Petra Recording
I was thinking more of a combined 40th Anniversary Tour with CP, dream team, and Farewell members. Ronnie has stated he is into it, and I know of couple domestic promoters have approached someone in Petra's camp about it.
