Am I the only one here that really is not all that impressed with the production of BTTR?

ehh. it was OK. A few songs are stellar but a couple were lackluster, IMO. I think a couple songs could use a little more of John L. I do like it better than the stuff from the early 80's.

What don't you like about it?

Here are some specifics

1. Greg's vocals: His vocals sound layered on top of the production not imbeded in it.
2. The keys are uneven throughout the whole production; they are upfront one minute than all of a sudden drop completely off the grid.
3. The guitar work sounds tinty or flaky or I guess you can say it sounds like the current wave of pop music.
4. The overall low end of the instruments are in the background.

This assessment has nothing to do with the musicians, but with the production only. Petra means rock and that's what I want to hear; I think this album leans more to the pop side of the market than the rock side and I think that it has to do with the production and not the song selection.
The four songs that stand out to me that are strong are: Bema Seat, Clean, Second Wind, & Adonai
The four songs that are a disappontment are: Angel of Light, Rose Colored, BTTR, & Let Everything That Hath Breath
The other four are good/decent reproductions.

Which is basically Back to the Rock.

Thats what I'm afraid of, I think its time to bring in an outside producer for any new albums.

They stripped off the verb and other things that dated the songs too. That double album does sound good.
Foreigner as in the group foreigner?

Could you be more specific? A link maybe? I'm having trouble figuring out which album is being referred to.

Thanks.

Depending where you live and how you purchase music I'm afraid. In the US Wal-Mart exclusively sold the "Can't Slow Down " CD with an extra cd of greatest hits remixed. The improvement varies based on the condition of the source tapes. I've noticed that on download sites the remixes aren't always available. Outside the US I do not know how the new remixes were sold. Foreigner later re recorded their greatest hits with the new singer so don't get the two confused. The remixes sound fantastic. As for a link, well the emusic and itunes download only includes the new material(still really good), not the bonus remixes. On Amazon it appears the second disc is a live recording rather than the remixes. Best bet is picking up the walmart pkg used as they are not selling it online anymore. It's rather confusing when you see all the stuff they have released as of late. One good thing is the cost has been low.

Listening to More Power to Ya 30th anniversary edition on Sporify right now:
http://open.spotify.com/album/34YsC0lh2IF70jMi2I10s5

More of the same thing... OVER COMPRESSION to the level of distortion! I would have made a better job mastering it myself. Honestly.

They also have This means war 25:
