Poll: Revival (2001)

And now, Petra's third praise album...

Didja know... this is the only Petra album not to feature a Bob Hartman song

Also, like with other releases, song #11 ("How Long") got cut from the poll, so if that's your vote, just give it some love in the thread.

This is a very different album for Petra, but for the most part, it works for me. Although it does feel overproduced and too programmed, I like the inherent melancholy and sadness in most of the songs (Send Revival, How Long, Prodigal's Song). I think that sorta suited the time and place of the band at that moment.

Choosing a favorite, I would be torn between "Send Revival" or "How Long". I'll give it some thought.

Also, just wanted to say that I skipped Double Take mostly because it has only two original songs. Basically the same reason why I didn't include CITAS, or why I won't include Farewell. Plus, I don't think most of you will complain.

Really liked this album. Others condemned it because it "made them sound too much like SonicFlood" but I always looked past that and didn't feel it was any different than what they did with BTS, other than the songs being written by someone else. Anyway, I picked Send Revival.

I vote for How Long. I'd never heard the song before Petra covered it, and I haven't heard anyone else play it. It was our church's theme song for a couple years, we even had a slideshow made to it. All the songs are pretty good though, I like listening to them in my car. Easy listening music.

"Pethead" is not a title. It's a way of life.

I voted for "Send Revival, Start With Me". The first two tracks are the only things worth listening to IMO; This album actually puts me to sleep listening to it. It's just a boring album which fits the decade its was made it.

I really disliked this album. It seemed like Petra was at "last gasp", fumbling through the dark, trying to find any way to success. It was doing it by trying to adjust their vocals and music to what rock music was sounding like at the time period (which sucked really bad I might add). Don't try to be someone or something you're not - stick to who you are. I can only choose "Amazing Grace" because the rest of the CD to me is just awful.
