It really depends on each station, but I know "Creed" & "Beyond Belief" were both strong radio play songs with "I am on The Rock" had moderate air play.gman wrote:As far as I know, any rock songs from Petra were never radio hits on the bulk of CCM stations. They probably didn't get much airplay.

Anybody else notice that on the cover page of the CCM United We Will Stand website it show a pic of the band with Ronny, but when you click on "Artist List" link it shows a pre Ronny pick of the band with Mark Kelly. A simple oversight I guess, but you would think they would get it right....

The people who assemble that stuff probably don't know what they are looking at and maybe think it is the same person, if they looked at all. I would not read too much into it.

You might be right. I only recall ever hearing stuff like Love, Prayer, Just Reach Out, If I had to Die For Someone, etc. Same went for Whiteheart. Desert Rose, Once and For All, Pass the Flame.executioner wrote:It really depends on each station, but I know "Creed" & "Beyond Belief" were both strong radio play songs with "I am on The Rock" had moderate air play.gman wrote:As far as I know, any rock songs from Petra were never radio hits on the bulk of CCM stations. It might also be that I live in a market where we have an actual local reporting Christian Rock station that has always played Petra and just celebrated its 25th year.

Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly
The funny thing is that in the US they never issued a radio promo for Beyond Belief or I Am On The Rock. There was a single for Creed & Prayer and another one for Love & Seen And Not Heard. In Europe they had one radio single with Underground, Prayer and I Am On The Rock. This wasn't sent out to US radio stations. So the radio stations that played Beyond Belief and I Am On The Rock were not encouraged by Word Records to play those songs. They must've had independent DJs.gman wrote:You might be right. Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly
The Sound of Light radio program (HIS Radio 89.3, once per week on Saturdays in Greenville, SC) played the top hits back then, but they played a lot of requests also. I remember hearing everything from Petra, Mylon, and Whiteheart to Whitecross and DC Talk. They never played Deliverance or Bloodgood, at least the way I remember it ... but I do remember hearing "Showdown" from Shout on their a lot. The good ones made due.

The list is out. Fire away. First, Petra. Is that really the best spot to put them in? Second, Chris Tomlin is noticeably absent. We could build a big list of artists that are missing. Third Day comes to mind. Third, why so much time to Amy, Sandy, and Michael? Two of the three are not high on my list of great examples to follow. Makes me think that some artists bailed, or there were a lot of artists invited that couldn't do it.

Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly
Just going through the list and making some more observations. The show opens and closes with songs written by Rich Mullins. By my count, there are 6 songs written by Michael W. Newsboys appear twice, but without Peter Furler who was there for more than 20 years. And no songs written by the band. Shine? Breakfast? Crickets.
No Steve Taylor, and no real rock representation either except for Petra and Newsboys.
I like the Imperials doing Trumpet of Jesus. That's one spot I would say they got right.

Yawn.... that's going to be one of the most boring CDs/DVDs in my collection.
Just hoping the guys will put up a fight to bring some rock to this event!

Chris Tomlin is currently in the middle of the Live Passion Conference Recordings in Atlanta and Houston during Jan 2015 so he's definitely out of the picture for that.

Less than one song from a band that hasn't played together for 20 years, am I being cynical by expecting a mime?
