I found this amazing picture on facebook:
I knew Randy toured with Petra in the 70s, but I'd never seen this photo before. It's Randy Matthews, Bob Hartman, Greg Hough, John DeGroff and a drummer that I don't recognize. Does anyone know who that is?
I believe Petra sometimes even served as Randy's backup band. I would love to hear/see some recording of that.

Re: Randy Matthews & Petra
What year is this photo?
Is the guy sitting the one you don't know? or the one left of Hartman?

Re: Randy Matthews & Petra
I don't know who the sitting guy is. Left to Bob is Randy Matthews and standing right to Bob are John DeGroff and Greg Hough.
I guess this would be about 1976?
Dan Brock, the guy who was tour manager for this, posted the photo on facebook and he said that the only original Petra member missing on this photograph was Bill Glover, but he didn't say who the replacement drummer was.

Re: Randy Matthews & Petra
I asked on facebook and these were the responses:
Bill Glover: A temporary drummer. When I left the active lineup, there were several temporary drummers filling in until Louie was hired.
John DeGroff: That's Chris Bechler. I wouldn't call him a temporary drummer. He was in the band for a year. He was replaced by Jim Benton, who stayed with the band until the first major split in 1978. Sadly, Chris passed away in the early 1980's.
