Petra Devotional on Ebay - What's it worth to ya

Post by gman » Thu Jun 04, 2015 4:30 pm

I'm putting up the More Power To Ya devotional on Ebay, if anyone is interested. I'll consider adding a buy it now option if anyone here is interested. Just give me some idea what you're willing to pay for it. Otherwise, I'll just go straight auction and see what I get.

You say you've got extra money, money in the bank
You say you need a devotion to bring you slidin' back
But good things come to them that bid, not to those who thought they did
So, hurry up I've got it on reserrrrrrve

What's it worth to ya, this book that Hartman wrote
When you're reading through the whole book
Carefully taking notes
What's it worth to ya, to read about each song
They that bid upon the devo shall read cool
They shall read cool storieeeeeeees

Gman promised all his bidders, He'd ship straight to them
Gman told them all to Paypal their money to him
When the time had finally passed, A small fortune he'd amassed
And he began to spread the wealth arounnnnnnd

What's it worth to ya, this book that Hartman wrote
When you're reading through the whole book
Carefully taking notes
What's it worth to ya, to read about each song
They that bid upon the devo shall read cool
They shall read cool storieeeeeeees

So be smart with your bid and in the power of the watch
Outbid all those suckers and carve a new notch
In your auction history, you have won again
And then leave that feedback, a solid 10 out of 10

I've heard it said that "good things come to those that wait." Not so with eBay.

What other devotionals did Petra release besides this one? I have this one, but would like to be able to get other one(s) if possible.

Not many, and they're very hard to find. On John's site they have pdf-files made from the devotionals in my collection.
http://www.johnwschlitt.com/fans/mediadevotionals.htm

There are two versions of the Petra Prayer Warrior Devotions.
Book I: http://www.trodland.com/petraspective/p ... book1.html
Book I & II: http://www.trodland.com/petraspective/p ... tions.html
I don't believe there's ever been a separate edition of Book II.

There is the God Fixation devotional that was only used as a promotional tool and was never available to the general public:
http://www.trodland.com/petraspective/b ... music.html

They made a special Petra-edition of the Gospel Of John that was given away at concerts during the On Fire!-Beyond Belief era. And a special youth Bible version with a contribution by Bob.

And some of the Star Song accompaniment trax tapes (Rock Trax series) have short devotionals printed in them.

Thanks for the info.
Too bad the Godfixation one was never printed for the public.
It would be cool if Bob came out with another one for the God Fixation Era through J and H; and made it available to everyone.

The sad thing is: Treasures like these are mostly not shipped to Germany. And the only question for this is: WHY!?!?!?!?   :)

Until recently, I avoided international shipping like the plaque, because I got burned on an item I sold to a guy in China. Ebay has largely eliminated that problem with their international shipping program. However, on auctions where I have made them available internationally, I've gotten messages from potential buyers that the shipping cost is too high. One guy asked if I could bypass the program and ship it myself through the postal service. I looked it up, and the postal service was only saving a dollar or two.

The Global Shipping Program sucks. USPS has a global shipping program that is expensive enough as it is. No need to force buyers to feed more money into eBay.

You might only see the bit that eBay pays you and not what the buyer pays extra to eBay. Payments for auctions with the GSP are done in two bits, one directly to the seller with reimbursement for shipping costs to the distribution centre and one to eBay (in the form of its (probably) subsidiary Pitney Bowes) for the cost of shipping internationally. In the end the buyer pays both shipping charges.

The most annoying bit is that items that cross the custom tax threshold are automatically taxed by eBay in accordance with the strictest version of the regulations of each country's local custom office. Usually, customs doesn't bother with small packages with just one or two CDs for private use, even if you'd pay $100 for it. With the GSP eBay charges custom taxes that you probably shouldn't even have to pay.

Even if you see only a few $$ difference, it adds up in the end. When $10 for shipping a CD to Europe (which is ridiculously expensive already) increases through a stupid eBay program to $12, it's an increase of 20%. I don't ever buy stuff from sellers with the GSP anymore, unless I absolutely need to have what they're selling.

Sorry for the rant, but I utterly detest the Global Shipping Program, because it's too easy for buyers and way too expensive for sellers. The previous USPS massive tariff changes from a few years back were still hurting, when eBay threw in this GSP. I remember I used to pay $6 max for shipping a CD to Europe and now it rarely is cheaper than $12 and with the GSP it can sometimes even be $20.
