Oh how I hate the mix on this album. Guitar is buried, solos a cut on fade outs and Johns highest pitched vocals are hidden like its a bad thing. Uff!

When that album came out, I liked it. But, it doesn't have a lot of replay value because you hear those songs everywhere so much, kind of like VE. I actually liked the mix. I thought John doing all the octaves sounded cool, although I don't think it helped his voice health, long term, having to tour and sing Send Revival. I also thought the guitars were prominent, just not any solos. In fact, someone I let borrow the cd that normally would listen to MW Smith said that they liked it but that it had "too many guitars", whatever that meant (I just shook my head). I agree on the solos fading issue though ...

I liked Send Revival, Start With Me & The Noise We Make; other than that I thought the album was really dull an uninspiring. The Mix was different to what I'm use to but it wasn't bad, I just didn't like the song selection

It ain't a Petra record. It sucks. That's my opinion. But, different strokes for different folks. "It takes....different strokes to rule the world, yes it does...."

I once heard it described as a Sonicflood album with special guests Petra. I don't think it's a terrible Petra album, but it's certainly not one of my top favorites. I would actually put Double Take ahead of Revival if I were to rank them.

DT. Oops. DT was a necessary evil. They had to give the radio people something to play. Funny, I don't recall them playing any of it where I live, and I have four different stations from three different owners.

Poor Double Take. I may be in the minority, but I like that one too. It's not my all-time favorite Petra CD, and there may be valid reasons for not liking it. I do understand why people wouldn't like different arrangements of familiar songs, but to me the arrangements are interesting. I like something about everything they've released, even if it's not my favorite or there are things about the CD/album I may not like.

I think Double Take is one of Petra's most underrated albums.

I can't believe we are comparing this, LOL. I love this band and I hope no one takes it personally, but DT was terrible. Revival was a lot better. If nothing else, because it was faithful to the original material and they didn't make a bunch of popular tunes unrecognizable. Heck, even VE sounds better than DT and it was just II Guys on a small budget. The tunes on DT sounded like you were at a Petra dance recital out in a barn full of 6th graders or something and they found a harmonica. There, I said it.

I really like Revival. I rediscovered Petra (after a near 20-year hiatus) during my divorce. "The Prodigal's Song" hit me right between the eyes, and helped me understand God's grace. I used to (and still do) listen to this praise album on long runs. I guess I never considered the "mix" of the album. Sure it sounds a little different, but that's what you get with new producers. I very much dislike Double Take.

I'm in the camp that likes Revival quite a bit. "Send Revival", "Oasis", "Prodigal Son", and "How Long" are all great songs that hit close to home for me. I also like how many songs are more introspective and reflective than they are cheerful. I might be grasping at straws, but I think it also reflects the band's state of mind at the time.
