I also agree. I love the lineup (depending on the guitarist), but they need to do like Schlitt and the Whiteheart boys and come up with a new name for this project.

Hey, Petra has had a few other guitarists over the years. I know that some of them wouldn't be an option, but how about Kevin Brandow?

Without Bob though, they shouldn't use the name Petra. Otherwise, you'd be better off calling GHF Classic Petra.

How about Cephas? Cephas means rock!

Other possible band names (if Classic Petra cannot be used): Pieces of Petra, III (or IV) Guys from Petra, Xavier, and finally...Greg X. Volz.

High Volzage (You gotta admit, that would make a good 80s CCM album name)

How about just "Volz".

Incidentally, "Greg Xavier Volz" is probably the coolest lead singer name ever, made even cooler by the fact that it's his real name and not a stage name. That's the kind of name parents give their kids when they want them to grow up to be rock stars.

I vote for the name "Greg X Volz"... High Voltage would be a great album name... especially if they could make it more of a synth-rock type album with John Lawry. Kirk Henderson could do the guitar, and it would be KILLER AWESOME! At least that's how I would do it. 8) Greg would probably have to use a vocoder though...

I really hope this happens!

Ah yes, the old "use the cool last name of a band member as the band name" motif. Like Van Halen, Dokken, or to a lesser extent, Z'Nuff.

The employee concept was proposed by Starsong management, probably as an attempt to organize financial accounting. But, just as some band members were "more equal" than others, some accounting was also "more equal" than other accounting. It was not proposed, explained or justified in a thoughtful manner, which led to a lot of misunderstanding. However, I never thought there was any dishonest intent.

I never would have thought that the label came up with the 'employee' concept; thanks for clearing that up.

I never thought so either, until a recent meeting with an old friend whom I'd not seen in 33 years, who told me where the concept originated. The old friend related much inside information which provided a new and more complete perspective than I'd ever had before. :roll:

@BriGuyPEI

Let us not forget Slaughter and Winger along with Giuffria and Bonham (Jason Bonham's band).
