Good comments all. I think it's pretty apparent that this band marches to the beat of a different drum! They simply will not be put inside of a box. Not enough for people like this in the industry anymore.

Dear Pieter,

I am expressing my own personal grateful acknowledgement to you for your own personal commentary with reference to my own personal communication which has got relation to the "Judas' Kiss" song from the repertoire of Petra and for your own personal congratulations upon Christmas as well. It was an overwhelmingly unexpected as well as pleasurable thing for me to receive it after all of those years of silence.
Dear Pieter, it appears to me that you have committed one mistake in the section which you have consecrated to the "Back To The Rock II" album from the discography of CPR. It is the following: you have pointed out the fact that the "For Annie" track was originally recorded on the album "The Coloring Song," whereas it was originally recorded on the album "Never Say Die". In conclusion, I have got one question to you; that is, what was the whys and wherefores of the fact that the line-up of CPR was not permitted to make the use of the "Petra" title? I am thanking you in anticipation.

With respect,

Yuri.

Mistake fixed (a long time ago already, I just hadn't uploaded the latest changes until you mentioned it).

I have no idea what the story behind CPR / Petra is. I'm not in touch with band members on a regular basis and I'm certainly not involved in any decision making processes. My personal point of view is that CPR is not Petra/Classic Petra because it doesn't involve Hartman. It's former Petra members doing Petra songs, but that doesn't make them Petra. Not sure about the legalities involved.

It doesn't matter if they are compared. The Petra of recent years wasn't comparing well in the hearts and minds of many fans. No band, Petra or members of Petra, will compare favorably with the band(s) we experienced in our most impressionable years.

Poor Louie. He just can't catch a break. Probably one of the best known drummers in Christian music, but he's on hardly any albums.

Maybe far more profitable to be driving than commit to studio time?

But Greg said on his Facebook page,
The Mix for the new CPR CD begins mid June ...I believe Louie has played his best ever on this project...love them drums...Greg X

I am not too certain that it can be concluded that Louie did not play drums on the record. I think we only know with certainty that others did play percussion to some extent but whether or not Louie played something or nothing is hard to figure out looking at the cover.

Since he paid for the project himself, I am guessing he played on it.

Bob Hartman owns full rights to the band name Petra and as you can see he is not part of this project so that would be the reason why the name was not used. The songs were used by permission via the label & company they are owned by, but Bob will still get some type of royalty for their use. On the live touring side of Petra John Schlitt bought that portion from Bob back in 1994 when Bob decided to get off the road and when "Revival" was produced Bob bought back half of what John Schlitt had bought back in 1994 so Bob/John still together own the live/tour side of the name and that is most likely the reason why back in 2010 Classic Petra was the official band tour name and part of the reason why its called CPR presently.

Louie played to some extent on the album but I'm not sure the amount; Christian Borneo was the main drummer used for the album which is cool because it was kept in the Petra family to a point.
