I wonder if this French guy's ever heard Greg's version of "Dream On."
I honestly think the GXV version of "Dream On" is really bad especially compared to the original. The Aerosmith version has so much soul & heart to it to where you can feel Steven Tyler's emotions; the GVX version you feel nothing and it feels very rehearsed and overproduced. This is one of the issues I have with the GVX era of the band; its hard for me to feel & believe what he is singing.
100% agree. GXV has always been on the cheesy side in my opinion. From his goofy prancing on CITAS video to the Classic Petra concert. I like him, but he sings and moves like... a youth group pastor trying to be legit.

I remember seeing Greg X. Volz on tour right after the release of his 1991 album The Exodus. One standout moment that evening was of him hitting a high note whilst doing a high kick a la David Lee Roth.

I think the original Aerosmith version sounds unprofessional compared to Gregs version. But I guess it's the year 1973 I'm hearing.

It's all a matter of what emotion one wants to hear in that song. Aerosmith is more of a melancholy, somber sound, whereas GXV does a more excited, positive sound (maybe those aren't the best descriptions, but you get the idea). I prefer GXV because I always prefer GXV 8) . His dancing is awful, though.

I believe the alarm clock is a joke, right? A photoshopped/creative funny image thing someone created?

I totally agree with you on the dancing aspect, plus I think his stage presence is horrible and unprofessional(I've seen Petra live 5 times with him and truly couldn't even look at him).
I understand what you are trying to say about the comparison of "Dream On" and what I look for in a song(especially rock) is the raw emotion of the lyrics & music and is it believable from how the artist is portraying it, that being said I get none of that from the GXV version; it feels too rehearsed, perfect, & polished for my taste.

I would have loved to have seen them five times with Greg. It was hard enough convincing my parents to let me buy a cassette tape at the time. Considering the band would have likely folded in the early 80's without him, it's hard to read something like this and not be tempted to fuel a fire. He sure was popular when I was growing up. But, I have constrained myself as much as possible.

Executioner seems pretty hateful and resentful here. I don't know what's the deal. Yes Greg sounds corny at times with his stage banter, but still he helped put Petra on the map. Stuck with Bob though very hard times around 1979 through 1981, and if it wasn't for that we would have never had a Schlitt era Petra. I even have a picture of Bob on guitar, Greg on bass, and 2 other dudes on drums and keys around 1980. He stepped in to play bass. He was a team player. Give him a break.

I know I'm a "lurker" here and response to me will be doled out accordingly...but...how many of you would be willing to post videos of YOUR on-stage 'performances'? I'm not talking about an open-ended opportunity to put up your latest band or studio gig. How many of you can show us you've matched or bested a GXV stage performance? C'mon! Let's see it! I'm sure the entire Petra Zone community would love to comment on YOUR great feats! (Disclaimer: Before anyone assumes this in flaming the boards to create dissent...this is jest in fun!)
