So it's basically Petra minus Bob.

As a bass player, I like both Mark and Ronny. Two distinct styles for two distinct Petra groups. I am intrigued to hear what songs this group will do considering Greg never recorded with the Ronny, John L., Louie group. Plus, there's no Bob. I know I'll get "hate" from some, but I hope it's better than the Union of Sinners and Saints album. I just didn't care for that at all.

Brent... haha... maybe?

This could once again be more Petra than actual Petra...

Ronny or Mark either rock, I liked Ronny personality more.

Mark Kelly is an amazing bass player. When they did the DVD documentary, I enjoyed hearing things from his perspective since he was with Petra as they were breaking through and dealing with the negative criticism of the time. Ronny Cates is an amazing bass player. I love his energy. Even without all the hair from the late 80s/early 90s, he still plays bass with such energy. I am looking forward to seeing what this group is going to do. If they are remaking old Petra songs, I would assume they are only remaking Volz Petra era songs even though Cates is coming in on bass.

Nope. A little birdie told me they'd also be covering post-Petra GXV songs.

I don't know why, but I've always wanted to hear Greg cover some Schlitt-era Petra songs. Probably my OCD. I've heard John sing Greg-era...so I guess I've just always wanted to see that evened out by Greg singing John's stuff. Heck, I was excited to see Greg sing backup on "No Doubt" and "Love" on the Farewell DVD. Also, it kinda helps with the what would Petra have sounded like if Greg had never left questions.

After reading this, I concur. The song that always comes to mind is the pre-written, "Altar Ego" which John nailed during his audition for the band. One could only wonder how Greg would have sounded on that one.

I can think of quite a few Schlitt-era songs I'd like to hear Volz sing.

Counsel of the Holy
I Am On The Rock
Beyond Belief
Sight Unseen

Even though there are two versions of God Gave Rock N Roll To You, I'd like to hear a modern version just to see what route they would go. I love the original, but the intro is too long. The Beat the System version is too synthy.

The BTTS song that I always "hear" Greg singing is You Are I Am.

As for other Schlitt era songs for Greg to sing, I agree with I am on the Rock and Counsel of the Holy. I could see that one being likely since it was written by John Lawry. Other contenders would be Love, Dance, Praying Man (also written by Lawry & Cooper).

For Volz era songs, I expect this time we'll get Judas Kiss and hopefully Not By Sight. Also Beat the System, It Is Finished, Stand Up, Praise Ye The Lord. It's too bad they didn't do Disciple when they had Mark. I love that song.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this without Bob being involved; especially since they will be remaking some old Petra tunes.

I am up for them doing tracks from Back To The Street. I just sent a message to GXV telling him so.

I want to hear All Fired Up, Hit You Where You Live and I Love The Lord done by Greg. Also re done, Beat The System, Stand Up, Not of this World and It Is Finished.

As for Kirk Henderson I think he has enough Petra and GXV history that makes sense. Remember his terrific work on GXV records, probably played some Petra tunes back then if he played live with him then. Also don't forget being a founding member of Kings X is pretty cool too.

I hate to not see Bob involved, but it is what it is.

Other Volz Petra songs I'd like to hear remade:
Judas' Kiss
Not by Sight
Stand Up
Blinded Eyes
Not of This World
It Is Finished

I'd like to hear what Hollow Eyes might sound like if written and recorded today.

Another Schlitt era song I'd like to hear would be Fool's Gold.

I'm excited to see and hear what happens with this project.

On the last leg of the Back to the Rock tour, Greg added "All Over Me" to the set list. I wouldn't be surprised to see this song on CPR's new album.

Hearing Greg singing John's songs won't be nearly as strange as hearing Petra songs without Bob.
