That old school sword logo was the coolest thing ever and gave the band a real identity. I was sad to see it retired when the Elefante Bros. started producing the albums.

Record label changed and artists were different. Did they even have the rights to use it after that?

According to the albums, the logo was trademarked by Star Song Records. But, they quit using it before the E brothers era. The logo was no longer used beginning with Beat The System. The band began to change their image. In their newsletter, they discussed the new look, new sound, new direction. Captured in Time & Space was the first to have the Petra font that would come and go until the end. Only the StarSong releases of that album had the old sword Petra logo. All of the licensed/distributed copies did not.
