Dream On

Post by dihigo » Thu Jan 04, 2018 1:56 pm

GXV clearly takes a few creative liberties with the original Aerosmith lyrics, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what he's saying in the first verse in place of the line, "It went by..."
Original Aerosmith lyrics"

Verse 1
Every time when I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by, like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got the dues in life to pay
It sounds like he's saying, "Then we diet," but obviously he's not. I've listened to both his CPR version and his solo version on Come Out Fighting (1988), and both sound like he's putting a "t" on the end of the line. Any guesses as to what he's saying?

According to the lyrics sheet from the Come Out Fighting record he sings "Then when night".

Sorry but I disagree; There is no emotion or feel in his vocals; its too clean or polished. This is the biggest complaint I've always with GXV vocals; yes they are spot on range & note wise but it just lacks the feel & emotion rock songs need. You can't feel his pain, sorrow, joy etc etc etc when he is singing.

Thanks Ex I agree, Greg is always "spot on" thats what gives that emotional punch your hearing.

You are Looney! I hear no emotion just the same ole GXV "robot" vocals. Rock singer vocals can be spot on note wise and there be nothing there.
