My copy came in the mail today. I am listening to it now. Both John Schlitt and Greg X. Volz on the same CD!

Greg's song is a rap song with him singing the chorus!?! Kinda weird.

Got mine too

Well, after seeing this post, I went and checked the mail, and sure enough, mine was there. I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm excited cuz not only does it have John and Greg, it also has some of my other favorite singers, Jamie Rowe, Michael Sweet, Rick Florian and Ken Tamplin! I'm especially excited about Ken Tamplin being on the cd, cuz he wasn't originally going to be on it, and I really wanted him to be!

AUGGGGH!!!

No fair, I ordered mine too. Maybe I'd better go double check the mail. I'd better get it in the next day or so.

It's worth having just because John, Greg, Jamie Rowe and Michael Sweet are on it. :)

RATS.

Nope, I didn't get it. Should I torture the mail carrier? :D I'm looking forward to it. I'm just gonna have to wait I guess.

I hate you people who got it already. :P :)

Don't torture your mail carrier. It may be fun at the time, but then later he might poison your dog or put boogers on your magazines or something like that. It's not worth it!

Wow....

rap has INFILTRATED this CD. I'm very disappointed. RAP WITH GREG VOLZ. RAP WITH SCOTT WENZEL. RAP WITH RICK FLORIAN! :( Why?

I'm dissapointed as well. It seems like a waste to have these great talents just sing the chorus. The rap is pretty cheesy too. They needed to let these guys sing.

Who is Harry Hess and why is he on this CD? I did a google on him and found this interview...

http://www.melodicrock.com/interviews/h ... igher.html

I barely got into it and the guy starts using the f-word. Would anyone like to enlighten me? Please!

Eww yuck.

I'm going to be paranoid about my magazines now MJ. Nah, it would be pretty ridiculous for a little person like me to try to torture someone bigger than she is. Of course, they'd probably be so busy laughing I might get away with it, LOL.

My dog tries to eat anyone who comes up to our gate, she's very territorial, so she sounds the alarm whenever anyone is around. She barks at everything that moves (and sometimes stuff that doesn't move). What a dork. :P

looking forward to it

Well, if you ever do decide to torture someone, at least let it be a spur-of-the-moment thing. "Looking forward to it" sounds so... premeditated.

HAHAHAHAHA

That was as in "I'm looking forward to getting the CD", don't make me into an ax murderess, hahahahahaha. :) Guess I need to make myself a little clearer.

I got it...

It was in the mail today. Guess the mail carrier is safe, LOL. I'll listen to it tonight. :)

I don't really know anything about Harem Scarem, I have heard of them though. I read the interview and only saw the f-bomb once. I'll read it more carefully later. I agree it's not a good thing, but it may have been slipped in during editing for all anyone knows, and the interview is from several years ago.

WHY?

Oh, I don't know.... maybe because rap-rock is what a large percentage of the best-selling Christian rock bands are doing these days? I'll bet if you take 30 minutes listening to ChristianRock.net you'll hear at least one or two songs with raps in them. Toby Mac has spent a lot of time on the rock charts with his stuff (which is generally quite rocky). Pillar is one of the biggest-selling Christian rock bands out there today, and they have TONS of rap in their stuff. Besides, I actually kind of LIKE some of the songs with raps in them on the CD... the Volz track is really fun, and the sung parts are pretty awesome.

The weird thing to me is that this CD sounds very 80's CCM rock to me, and in the 80's having a rap in a rock song was a novelty, not the regular thing it is today. When the Beastie Boys and Aerosmith did that song together everyone was floored. If they were shooting for an 80's rock sound, they SHOULD have gone lighter on the rap, and if they were shooting for a more modern sound they should have maybe mixed things a little differently. I think people are likely to have similar criticisms of this CD as they had of JAH (sounds too 80's), except I'd say with this CD it's more justified.

All that said... we actually like the CD a lot. It's some of the best 80's Christian rock we've heard since the 80's! Image

I listened to part of it last night, I like it. :) "Bargain Bin" is a fun song with a good message. Best songs so far: "Blind Man's Bluff" with Michael Sweet, "Noise" with Jamie Rowe, "Shed My Skin" with Lou Gramm and "It's About Love" with that lead singer I'm so fond of. :D I'll listen to the rest of it sometime today.
