Logo needed here!

Post by sue d. » Wed Oct 01, 2003 8:51 am

Anyone want to use their graphic design skills and create a logo to be used at the top?

If so, how about contacting the Webmaster [email protected] with your submission!

I don't know if Micah has done anything or not, but since he's doing so much and pick one, just like we all decided on the domain name ThePetraZone.

Remember, the Zone will have both .NET and .COM extensions (at least for the next year).

New logo

Post by Michael » Wed Oct 01, 2003 3:29 pm

You might talk to Micah about his plans, but if you want to mess around with something before you talk to him, you might think in terms of the same dimensions as the "phpbb" logo... 200x91. It will make it a bit easier to drop the logo in. He may have something in mind for the color scheme of the whole board, though, so I would recommend talking to him first.

Logo

Post by micah » Wed Oct 01, 2003 5:00 pm

I can hack a logo up with the Gimp if no one else has yet. It can create cool logo effects pretty easily.

Does someone have the spinning Petra CD graphic that we had at the bottom of the old Zone?

Anyway, we'll get it. I have several other configuration steps to do here, and a few other things on my plate right now. At least it works! :)

Post by String » Wed Oct 01, 2003 5:24 pm

I do! You can find it at http://www.douglassands.com/petra2.gif . And a reminder, feel free to submit this site to the Petra Webring at http://www.douglassands.com/petraweb.html or I can let you transfer the code and I can change the admin links over here myself. Just need an updated e-mail and contact person.

CD Spinning graphic

If you are worried about bandwith, feel free to link that directly to my domain. Yeah, keep in mind that there are individual graphic files meshed into this graphic.

Not worried about bandwidth now, but it could be a problem if this get heavy use.

I'm also concerned about speed for dialup users, but I guess no one cared on the old site.

Micah, your instincts are right. I would highly recommend using a different image if you join the Petra webring... For folks like me who use dialup, that 200k image is a killer, it makes the page take forever to load.

I, for one, did care about it on the old Zone.. But Cory was the only one with access to change that graphic.

Also, is it possible to reduce the width of the title graphic? It's really wide so it makes the whole board stretch....

Ok, someone else e-mailed me about the image size. I use a 19" monitor at 1200X1024, so I don't always notice those things. :D

Is this better?
