The Petheads

Post by bakersfieldpethead » Tue Oct 07, 2003 11:57 am

I was thinking, as I do everyday........

And the thought come to me, why is there no official domain for the petheads? I mean we have The Petra Zone which is the official home.

So I did some checking and while there are a couple of domains taken, there are no sites available for those domains.

So here I found one, I registered it, and now I need someone to email me a list of every Petheads personal Petra website. (the official names and website addresses)

Why?

Introducing the central base website to promote all things Petra and Petheads, http://www.thepetheads.com

This site will serve as an official page with links to EVERY Pethead and Petra site on the net if possible.

This site will not handle all the regular stuff that you guys handle on your sites, like discography or bios or whatever, this will serve as the general location to get to all of your sites and Petras site to find out information about Petra.

This site will handle late breaking news, if it needs to. You can already see whats available on the site now.

I just need a complete list of all the Petheads sites out there, Ive already submitted everything to Google, including The Petra Zone..

If you guys are promoting your website and you have a long address such as http://members.aol.com/myhomepages/petra or something like that, this is the next best thing, simply tell them to go to thepetheads.com and click on your link. But again I need a list of all the websites, their address and official names. As well as every webmasters name for credits involved with the Petheads website.

This site may have been registerd by me, I may be the webmaster, but this site belongs to the Petheads, so feel free with your comments and feel free to send me anything on how you want to promote your site.

If you want help with promoting and ideas, let me know. And keep in mind promo's need to be in good taste...we need to keep this site as clean as posible so clutter of adds would push people away, rather then pull them in.

Thank You

Stephen Underwood

The links on the Member List might be a good place to get started.

My Petra page

Post by String » Tue Oct 07, 2003 4:40 pm

Bakersfield, my personal Petra page (Under reconstruction as we speak) is http://www.douglassands.com/petra.html . I do have one at http://www.petraonline.org but that one is in limbo until I can figure out what to do with it. My plans to donate it to various cause have fell through the cracks so I may use it as my Petra page. But, with the org at the end and the Petraonline name, it may be misconstrued as something official from Petra, which I don't want to mis-lead anyone. I think I am leaning more toward my personal domain. Still muddling this around in my mind.

Petraonline

Post by bakersfieldpethead » Wed Oct 08, 2003 12:38 am

Hey String

You know if you want to you can take that www.petraonline.org and go to your domain regestration provider and there should be a setting on there, to where you can choose to have that domain forward to another location, meaning, that by your own choice you can have it to ware if people type in www.petraonline.org it can load to www.petraband.com or whatver your heart desires.

But the idea of you moving your petra site to that address would be the ideal thing to do, you already own it, I would have done a long time ago if I was you.

The idea of The Petheads.com has stunned me, because like you, I didn't know why we didn't have a domain like that, but now we do.....and as I said above, this is for the Petheads not for personal use.

Bakers, that is a very COOL idea! I like it!

You can take sites off the links page on jws.com - I try to keep that updated as much as possible, and as far as I know the sites are all alive (though I haven't checked for a few months).

I have another idea: so many people have asked "where did the name PETHEADS come from and when did that start?"

I KNOW AND HAVE THE ANSWER!

Maybe it would be interesting to put that tale up on the site too....

thoughts?

Heheehe... cute, MJ! I forgot about that.

I've sent the whole tale in an email to both bakers and micah.... do with it what you will. guys!

And for everyone else - you'll have to wait for them to see it (just a little suspense, for those of you who havn't heard the tale yet).

Good plan, Bakersfield!

Post by String » Wed Oct 08, 2003 6:30 pm

I think I toyed around with the idea of auto-directing it to my page at http://www.douglassands.com/petra.html and my old domain but things came up like the possibility of putting things up for the band, but those ideas fell through.

I think I'd better think about that option again. Thanks for the reminder!!

In addition....

I think I was waiting on myself to finish getting this Petra page of mine revamp to not use framing as well. I guess it wouldn't take to much to auto-forward it either, eh? :)
