The problem when we're talking about Double Take is that often people aren't talking about the same thing. Some people are talking about the arrangements, sometimes people are talking about the production quality, sometimes people are talking about the musicianship, and sometimes peole just don't like the idea of reworking melodies on Petra classics. Sometimes people are commenting on the idea that it is not a band album really; it comes across as a studio thing with studio musicians. I'd say the arrangements are complex and skillful, the musicianship is impeccable, but the rewrites of the melodies and re-coceptions of the songs are uneven. Some of them I think the original is much better, and some of them I consider on par with the originals. A few strike me as a bit ill-conceived. But for someone who does not know the original songs, the music itself is terrific. And I doubt too many Grammy voters are Petheads who know the original songs. :-)
