There is no reason why we should have to take that kind of stuff in our own yard!!!!

Just let'em have their fun and they'll get tired of it after awhile.

Whether they have a username or not, their true colours still show.

At least if people actually have to go through a registration process, however simple, it will weed out the less-determined posters. Many people who like to throw stones are too lazy to do it if it appears that it will take some effort.

Plus, if someone is registered and they start trolling, they can be banned. I believe we all remember the last incident at the old zone.

Well, you can still ban them by IP address; that's an imperfect solution but one that would work to stop an attack. You can delete their registration and ban their email address. If you did all of those things, the troll just needs to disconnect from AOL (hehe!) and reconnect, create a new email address (can be done on AOL in like ten seconds), register again and they're back in business.

A true ban is pretty difficult. If they're on cable modem/DSL/something else always-on, the IP ban should do it, but other methods are imperfect at best without risking denying service for someone else.

How about removing the ability to post all-together, for anonymous users? Just a thought!!

I think this is a legit post, and anonymous posters SHOULD be banned, and they should not be able to join the board unless the register using their REAL NAMES so we don't have people come here spamming us and all kinds of crap that we saw even at the old petra zone.

Jay, how do you propose that we force people to use their "real names"? Besides... does your birth certificate say "PetraFan007"? hehe

Can't we ban a block of IP addresses? And doesn't Micah sort of run the server? If he has access to the space, we can just set up a firewall rule that would drop traffic from the offender's subnet block. That could mean dropping legit visitors, too, but...

If we didn't these anonymous guests, I might think some of you wouldn't have as much fun posting on this forum (from what I've seen).

That previous post was not annoying guest, but me again. This system is still driving me crazy with its login process.
