Hey man, THAT's a cool and very accurate illustration. Thanks for posting that. I'm gonna borrow that one.

May I remind you, sir, you've done your share of posting links and parodies and such. I hope I'm not detecting a double standard here.

Jesusland

Post by Michael » Fri Nov 12, 2004 12:06 pm

I think the "Jesusland" moniker was created by a liberal commentator when looking at the map of the electoral vote in the recent election (See it at http://news.yahoo.com/electionresults). It was a commentary on the media-accepted explanation that conservative Christians voted in droves in this election, and that's why Bush won.

what is the crime rate in "Jesus land?"
do you have any alcoholics in Jesus land?
Are there any divorces in Jesus land?
Any addicts to pornography in Jesus land?
Ha ha! You're funny.

Everbody knows that believers are perfect, not forgiven.

I'm struggling to understand where this hostility comes from.

Yes, there's hypocrisy everywhere. I wish there weren't. Think of the old Petra song, Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows, that's exactly what that song is about. Not all people who think of themselves as Christians are real Christians, or many real believers are bearing very little, shriveled fruit. But why fly off the handle at me for posting an interesting symbol of the division in the US? It has nothing to do with me thinking that we're better than everyone else.

As Shell has already pointed out, this is a parody, and should be treated as such.

That's right. This map was created by Hollywood liberals to show their contempt for the rest of us Americans. Jesusland isn't a mantle I've bestowed on my homeland, it's a term of hateful derision used to mock my homeland.

I don't know what it is, but it's been like this forever with MatthewRJ. Why do you have so much hostilty towards Christians in the U.S.? You always have a jab or two in there when something good is said about the U.S. I don't know what it is but I feel for you and I am praying for you. I just don't know whats wrong. :(

While I don't totally agree with Matthew in this case, I've got to agree with his point here about Canada. If you truly believe this is an accurate illustration (which it's not), then I've got a bone to pick with you.

Is Canada more secular then we'd like it? Yes. But we're our own country; to place all of us in the same boat as th e so-called "liberal" US is disrespectful.

RJ, get over it pal. You're always the first to hurl insults whenever you can to Christians who are pro-American.

The creator of the map apparently sees no difference between Canada and any other American hotbed of liberalism.

If you're offended by that, then you should reconsider your political views.

BigD, just to clarify - I'm not referring to Canada as a hotbed of liberals; but that the creator of the map apparently sees no difference.

Personally, I think Canadian Conservatives and American liberals should trade places. Problem is, liberals in America promise to leave but never do. :D
