It's been a while since I really studied pre-mil with its pre-trib and post-trib varieties.

But I don't think I ever really studied post-mil.

Micah, you have a good point about the danger of symbolism being taken too far with the possibility of interpreting the truth of the day of judgement and heaven and hell as having been fullfilled already. I would say that even sounds cult-ish. The return of Christ and spending eternity with Him in Heaven is the great hope we have as Christians.

I think people in the first and second century were much better at interpreting apocalyptic writings because much of it (but not all of it), I feel, was written pertaining to the Roman empire of the time... Rome in its pagan state first, and then in its papal state. Speaking openly against either was sure to put Christians in grave danger in those days.

The thrill for us as Christians, though, is that when we see prophecy fullfilled and can document it, we can rejoice in knowing our Redeemer lives!
