Just a little bit of pre-election fun... not to be taken too seriously!

I'll take the guy who actually tells us what he will do.

I think we all get it that John and John have a vision, that they have a plan for Iraq, for the economy, the war on terror, etc.? But does anyone actually know what that is? :?:
All I've heard is I have a plan, big oil, haliburton, George Bush is a screw up.
I think the truth is, they have plan and we can know what it is, but they can't run on it because it will never sell. Instead they will try to make people fearful of GWB.

I heard Michael Savage's full description of Kerry and his wife Ter-AY-sa last night:

Lurch and Nurse Ratchet

There's a lot that goes into Watergate, but I'll try and be brief...

Basically, at least as far back as Woodrow Wilson, US Presidents had been illegally using "covert ops" to gather information of all kinds. This included such things as phone tapping, wire tapping rooms, and stealing the opposition's files.

While this was going on, the press knew about it, but chose to cover it up.

Nixon was not popular with the media, but was very popular with American citizens, which really got under the media's skin. Any chance that they had to smear his name, they did.

The Watergate "scandal" was basically a minor "covert op" which involved several Nixon underlings who were attempting to break into an office building to try and steal some files on someone. The press took it and ran with it. For the first time ever, the media decided not to cover up a Presidetial scandal. The odd thing is, of all the scandals they could have reported on, they chose one which never could provably be linked straight to Nixon, but only to associates of his.

Here's a different take on Watergate. For great insight into the subject you can read Charles Colson's wonderful book, Life Sentence.

Politics is full of "dirty tricks," and has been forever. Watergate was a small operation undertaken by a fringe White House associate before the '72 election to break into Democrat Party HQ and steal information. Nixon had nothing to do with planning or ordering the break-in, but after the story broke, he tried to protect the people involved out of a sense of loyalty. He behaved terribly during the investigation and a number of highly ranked aides to the President ended up in prison. Nixon resigned to avoid impeachment, and his successor, Gerald Ford, pardoned him for any lawbreaking.
