O bom Adrinux me fez uma pergunta sobre preposi��es ingleses, com isto eu lhe ajudarei aqui.

ON

1) Em cima de (above, on top of)

The plates are on the table. Los pratos est�o em cima da mesa.
I am standing on the ground. Estou de p� em cima do solo.
The cat is on the bed. O gato est� em cima da cama.
There are books on the shelf. H� livros na (em cima da) prateleira.


2) Atado a (attached to)

There is a label on the bottle. H� uma etiqueta na garrafa.
"You got your hand on my heart" Tu tens a tua m�o no meu cora��o.
I have a nose on my face. Tenho um nariz no meu rosto.


3) Usando um computador ou um telefone (using a computer or telephone)

I'm on the computer. Estou usando o computador. (ou tamb�m pode dizer I'm using the computer)
He's talking on the telephone. Ele est� falando (no, pelo?) telefone.
Are you on the Internet right now? Tu est�s usando a Internet agora mesmo?


4) Acendido, operando (electr�nicos ou motores) (Turned on, operating (electronic devices or engines))

He turned on the light. Ele acendeu a luz.
The television is on. A televis�o est� acendida.
Turn on the oven, please. Acende o forno, por favor.

5) "You know what I'm talking about - On Fire!" (Sabes do que estou falando - Em Chamas!)

Sim, em acordo com o t�tulo deste album do Petra, quando dizes que algo est� em chamas, usas "on".

Their house is on fire! (A casa deles est� em chamas!)


6) Escrevendo, desenhando, escrevendo � m�quina, imprimindo, pintando, gravando (Writing, drawing, typing, printing, painting, recording)

The boy wrote his name on the paper. (O rapaz escreveu o seu nome no papel.)
I'm going to type my essay on a computer. (Vou dactilografar o meu ensaio num computador.)
The artist painted on canvas. (O artista pintou na lona.)
There are ten songs on the Beyond Belief album. (H� dez can��es no album Al�m da F�.)


7) "Off" � o oposto de "on" ("Off" is the opposite of "on")

The dog is off the bed. (O c�o est� embora da cama.)
She took the magnet off the refrigerator. (Ela removeu o magneto da geladeira.)
I'm off the phone now. (J� n�o estou usando o telefone.)
I turned the lights and the television off. (Fechei as luzes e a televis�o.)

1) Dentro de algo (inside something)

The butter is in the fridge. (A manteiga est� dentro da geladeira.)
I have a pencil in my hand. (Tenho um lapis na minha m�o.)
The cat is sleeping in the box. (O gato est� dormindo dentro da caixa.)
They loaded the fruit in the truck. (Eles carregaram a fruta dentro do cami�o.)
There are eight letters in the name Yamasaki. (H� oito letras no nome Yamasaki.)


2) Ir por dentro de algo (going inside something)

Help! A squirrel ran in our house! (Socorro! Um esquilo correu dentro da nossa casa!)
Put some food in your mouth. (P�e algo de comida dentro da tua boca.)
I put the butter in the fridge. (Pus a manteiga dentro da geladeira.)
They will load the fruit in the store. (Eles carregar�o a fruta dentro da loja.)
Come in! (Entra!)


3) Na condi��o / situa��o de (in the condition / situation of)

She was in pain. (Ela estava em dor.)
I'm in a hurry because I'm gonna (going to) be late. (Estou apressadamente porque vou estar atrasado.)
The kids are in trouble for breaking the window. (As crian�as est�o em preocupa��o(?) por quebrar a janela.)

You're welcome � usado em resposta a Thank you! Em portugu�s essa express�o (ur welcome) significa: "N�o h� de que" ou "por nada" em resposta a "obrigado".

Outra coisa para a sec��o 1 da li��o sobre in que quero adicionar:

Se usa in quando dizendo cual cidade, pa�s, ou regi�o em onde (nonde?) alguem vive.

I live in Iowa. (Eu vivo em Iowa.) "�i-o-ua"
You live in Brazil. (Voc� vive no Brasil.)
My friends live in Japan. (Os meus amigos vivem no Jap�o.)

O mesmo para falar de qual tipo de pr�dio em que alguem mora.

My parents live in a house. Os meus pais moram numa casa.
During college, I live in Rider Hall. (Durante do col�gio, moro em Rider Hall.) "rai-der-h�l" (A letra "H" em ingl�s normalmente tem sonido de exalar.)

Pero quando fala do endere�o em que alguem mora, usaria a preposi��oat.

I know someone who lives at 907 (nine-o-seven) West Church Street. (Conhe�o a alguem que mora em 907 da Rua Igreja do oeste.)
