Warsh whiter than??
Is it me, or did John Schlitt say "Warsh Whiter Than" on the Farewell DVD interview?

You mean they don't say "worsh" in Iowa!? Uh, I guess that would be the Central Illinois accent, then. I grew up in Peoria about 60 miles from John's hometown and I used to say "worsh" until I moved north. After getting tired of being made fun of, I changed my ways and began talking like a Chicagoan. The next time you see John get him to say "anniversary" and see how that one sounds.

THIS MEANS WARSH! And though both towels are drying...
I don't really know any Illinois-ians so I don't know how they talk... but I have a bunch of friends and family members in Ohio. Some of them say "warsh" some don't. What's interesting is my dad's mom and sisters say "warsh" but my dad doesn't. Once I even heard someone in Ohio say "squarsh."
(by the way I prefer the spelling "warsh" over "worsh" because it's funnier)

Beyond Belorf!!!
Oh, and I'm from Iowa and I say "wash" the correct way. I think just about everyone else I know from Iowa does too. Not sure though...I don't get into conversations about washing too often...carol d. wrote:You mean they don't say "worsh" in Iowa!?

hilarious!
I was reared to say "warsh" - along with "shire" instead of "shower" - , but was mocked (by Alabamans, no less) for it. Do you know what it's like to be mocked by people from Alabama, about how you speak? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! I changed my pronunciation rather quickly! WASH!
