Re: Being alone

You have amazing strength, very few people would have your outlook after something like this. Sorry for your loss. It's not me, it's God. I have a new appreciation for the concept of "peace that passes understanding". I can't explain it, I just know it. I know that my wife is in heaven and fully he...

Re: Being alone

This topic is a little different for me. My wife passed away in 2019, so I was "alone" before this pandemic nonsense even started. I put "alone" in quotes because I still have my three kids, so I'm not lacking in human contact, but I do miss having another adult in the house. Where the pandemic has ...

Re: Favorite bands

Just realized I never actually answered the question. So here it is, bands and music artists I would rate as my favorites (in no particular order): Petra Joe Satriani Vangelis Celine Dion The Beatles The Beach Boys U2 Steve Taylor David Gilmour Roger Waters Pink Floyd Keith Green Resurrection Band S...

Re: Beyond Belief Cover

I clicked into this thread thinking it was a discussion about the Beyond Belief album cover. I thought maybe someone had some cool trivia about the photo. :P

So let's all go back and pull out a month old post for an opportunistic dig at people we don't agree with. Way to go!
I sometimes feel like curt is my own personal troll here.

Re: Do you listen to classical/orchestral music?

I like classical. I have many hours of it in my music collection, but I don't listen to it as often as I used to.

Re: Favorite songs

I have way too many favorite songs to even begin to try listing them, which I suppose stretches the definition of "favorite".

Re: Petris

I can't make the game available as that of course would be a severe breaking of copyrights... I'm not so sure. The vast majority of Commodore 64 software is no longer commercially available (why would it be?), and in many cases, the developers and publishers went out of business decades ago, so you...

Re: Favorite bands

I see what you mean. I don't think you can really be a "leftist" Christian though. I know that lefts and rights are different in different countries (what is a left in America I think is a right other places) but I mean that you can't follow the world and call it Christianity. That I'm-a-world's-hi...

Re: Favorite bands

I know DC Talk were in talks for a reunion of some sort but that fell through and it was said it had to do with Kevin Max. Also the AA gig fell through very quickly after one album due to him not wanting to follow closely with the Christian beliefs the group held. Its been widely known for a long t...

Re: I'm here!

I'm still here, despite there not being much to talk about. Anyone else still check every day to see what's up? Yeah, I still check in pretty regularly. Wish there was more activity here, but I think this is still probably the largest and most active Petra forum on the world wide web. I've been a m...

Re: 1982 - Petra Live in Atlanta

I wish we had more professionally recorded live material from Petra, but I suspect they simply didn't have the budget for it, or the demand. You look at bands like Journey, U2, Pink Floyd, even the Beatles, and there is a ton of high quality live recordings that span their entire careers, but Christ...

I really wasn't expecting this. Eddie was a shadow of himself for quite a long time after messing himself up with drugs, but I still admired his early contributions to rock guitar.

The Petra performance wasn't especially good. The same can be said for other performances also excluded.
Unless I'm thinking of a different video, it's not that the performance itself was bad, it's the mix that was awful.

I assume there's more to this story. I didn't know Louie was having health problems. Not unexpected in a fellow his age, but still troubling.
