Re: New Whitecross!
Can you have Whitecross without Scott Wenzel? His voice is such a distinctive part of their sound. Edit: So I've listened to the album, and while it's a good hard rock/metal album, musically it sounds more like the band Civil War than it does Whitecross with the new lead singer even sounding strikin...

New Stryper album (2024)
Stryper is an amazing band. Where most Christian acts from their era are mostly washed up (I sadly include Petra in that category), Stryper continues to release new albums and actively tour. And they're producing some of the best music of their career! Their next album, When We Were Kings , is set t...

Re: Petra in Holland, Michigan • August 4
I don't get how to make this just be a video, but it's not my fault, its the website software. Anyway, a fun peek in at the Petra show in Holland, Michigan today. For whatever reason, you need to use the "youtube2" tag, like this: https...

Re: Classic Petra
Yes, he wanted them to do another album like Revival , which was his favorite musically and because he was involved with the recording process from the initial temp tracks to the final mix. It's just too bad his hard work was buried under one of the most overproduced mixes in music history. A shame,...

Re: The missing bridge on “Creed”
"Creed" needs the bridge and the guitar solo. The song just doesn't flow right without it.

Re: Classic Petra
I thought part of the reason Louie was fired was because he was trying to make deals for Petra to do more praise and worship albums (which is apparently the kind of music he really likes) when he had no authorization to do so.

Re: Petra on Spotify - Hacked?
I'm not sure who is protecting the Petra brand these days. They certainly no longer have a big label watching their backs. Although I don't think this is a case of "hacking". Probably just Spotify combining two artists who coincidentally have the same name. Either that or Bob Hartman has decided to ...

Re: Who lives?
A new album might get this forum going again, at least a little, but it seems the prospect of new material didn't go beyond Facebook rumors -- as far as I know, they're not even doing new songs in concert -- so we have literally nothing new to discuss.

Re: New Material
It seems this project has gone dark. If we were really getting a new Petra album, then I would have expected something official by now, but not a word about new Petra music on Facebook. Although John Schlitt recently released a 40th anniversary box set titled History . I don't know anything about it...

I just paid my income and property taxes for the year, so I'm not feeling too great at the moment, but otherwise I'm well.

Re: Louie's Favorite Character Enters The Public Domain
It's only the Steamboat Willie version of the character, but still pretty cool, and a bit surprising that Disney didn't cut another backroom deal with politicians to extend the copyright another 100 years.

Re: What should we call the 2024 Petra Tour?
The "Petra Means Fossilized Rock" Tour... you know, 'cause they're old and stuff. Or how about the "We can outplay and outsing our secular contemporaries because clean Christian living really works" tour, though that might be hard to fit on a one sheet. Finally, the "Worship Until the Cops Come" tou...

Re: New vinyl has shipped!
The last of Petra's album covers that looked like an artist actually put some effort into creating. They got pretty bland and generic after Wake Up Call. Arguably, so did the music, until Jekyll & Hyde, although I'm still quite fond of it.

Re: New Material
What's the market for a theatrically released Petra documentary? Probably the dozen or so of us. Seriously, I just attended the Petra show here in Nashville this past weekend and was shocked at how many folks were in attendance. The show was packed! There's definitely a market for anything Pe...
