Re: New project featuring John Schlitt

I didn't really care for the band until John started singing, and then it kinda rocked. John seems to be one of those singers who can make anything sound epic, and I think the band would be improved with a better vocalist. If you listen to female fronted metal bands like Evanescence, Nightwish, or E...

Re: Hey there...

To my knowledge, this is by far the most active Petra fan site on the internet. With all half dozen of us who post semi-regularly. Give it another five or ten years or so and this forum will probably die out. I'm not sure when this place had peak activity, but it was probably at least a decade ago ...

Re: TUOSS new project soon!

Except for the covers, I've not heard any of these songs previously, so it was my impression that they were all new.

Re: 50th anniversary concert!

I really wish they had the money (and the fan interest) to have done a proper send off show with a concert video and live album. Oh well, that's the Christian music industry for you. Old bands get no respect. I think there aren't enough old farts with money to spend who know they are still around. ...

Re: Petra back to the rock 3

Bob said in an interview that Back to the Street was written for Greg's voice, but I have to disagree...it sounds WAAAAAYYYYY better with John. To each, their own, of course but John has a MUCH larger natural vocal range than Greg! I don't know if John has a better range. It just seems that Greg mo...

Continuing a conversation you started over a decade ago? That has to be some sort of record.

Re: TUOSS new project soon!

But there's very little new material on this 'album'. Bundling old stuff and adding a couple of new tracks doesn't make it an album... So I've now listened to the whole album, and I don't think your description is accurate. Eight of the ten tracks are original songs as far as I know. Track six titl...

Re: TUOSS new project soon!

I just bought it on Qobuz: https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/album/one-more-shot-the-union-of-sinners-and-saints/dhkq1jnsoojdc I haven't listened to to the whole thing yet (the opening track kicks pretty hard), but I will say, the cover is atrocious. It looks like a placeholder until someone gets around t...

Re: RIP Carman Licciardello

The problem with the school prayer issue today is that the essence on which the United States was founded has been perverted. Our Founding Fathers were openly and unashamedly Christian, and I don't think it ever occurred to them that some day, the laws they created would be used to protect anything ...

Re: RIP Carman Licciardello

Carman, huh? Wow... I guess it never occurred to me that he was that old. He told everyone he was cured of some disease. Kinda sounded like a fraudster near the end. Sad I think he was more Vegas showman than conman, but I'll admit, I only know of like two of his songs and never really followed his...

They have a very distinctive sound. I can't think of any other band that sounds like them. I'm really looking forward to the full album!

Re: Petra should have a greatest hits album.

Petra, or more accurately Petra's various record labels have released a number of "greatest hits" collections over the years. According to Wikipedia, there are 17, so just buy one of those if you're itching for a compilation album.

Re: Mark Kelly

I know he's a neat freak. There was a Back to the Street behind the scenes video that made the rounds some time ago (I think it was recorded by a friend of John Schlitt), and there's a shot showing the room Schlitt shared with Kelly. John's side looked like a bachelor pad, and Mark's side looked lik...
