Re: Xavier - Greg X. Volz
A while ago, one fellow who maintained a Petra fan site got permission from the producer to post a digital copy of the album to his website. I think it was guidetopetra.com, but the site is currently down with an undated notice saying it will be back soon.

Re: Petra facebook page censors
When a band has had as many members as Petra, it's hard to say which is the "real" band, but I will say the current touring lineup doesn't resonate with me emotionally like "Classic Petra" or "The Dream Team". Greg Bailey and Christian Bonero are fine musicians, and Bailey has been an official touri...

Re: Remastered albums
I own every Petra album minus the compilations, which I have no use for. Petra never had any unreleased songs or "deep cuts", so there was never any reason to buy the compilations if you already had the albums. Someone once asked Bob Hartman about unreleased material that might be hidden away, and h...

Re: Ken Tamplin isn't who we thought
Ken's not lying, though. He was still singing, just not the lead part. I listened on a JBL soundbar and could easily tell when he sang harmony. His neck bulges differently when he is going to head voice. He has been using the same backing tracks forever. The other guys may be singing but aren't far...

Re: Ken Tamplin isn't who we thought
I'm not sure you understand the technique Fil uses to compare audio tracks. It's pitch detection software, and in the case of Ken's live performance versus the studio track, it's a perfect match to the thousandth of a second which proves it's the same audio: Ken was lip syncing to a studio track dur...

Re: Remastered albums
Using AI to "demix" a song so it can be remixed is one thing, but using it to create an artificial minickry of a human performance, I don't like that at all. Autotune, pitch correction, and quantizing are bad enough.

Re: Remastered albums
AI "demixing" is becoming more accessible all the time. For instance, there's the website moises.ai where you can upload any music file you want, and AI algorithms will separate vocals and instruments into separate tracks. The results aren't perfect, certainly not as clean as the work Abby Road can ...

Re: New Stryper album (2024)
There was another Stryper album released this year that flew under my radar until recently: To Hell With The Amps . It's an acoustic cover album that is more traditional than Petra's (unfairly) maligned Double Take , where the songs are just straightforward acoustic covers. Many of the them work qui...

Re: Jekyll & Hyde vinyl
I actually like Double Take. I appreciate the new arrangements and consider it one of the better acoustic cover albums, but I recognize that this is not a popular opinion among Petra fans.

A remaster? Why? The original CD sounds fantastic.

Re: Ken Tamplin isn't who we thought
Fil just posted a follow-up video in response to Ken's: https://youtu.be/FhM-wrP9PpQ?si=vcOYeG3y7VQbiZoY He doesn't have much new to say about Ken's lip syncing which was definitively covered in the first two videos, but he does point out that Ken has been deleting comments and videos from his own c...

Re: Ken Tamplin isn't who we thought
Ken responded in a video posted to his own channel, and all he did was deny, deny, deny without directly addressing any of the evidence proving he lip synced. He then admitted that he does use backing tracks in concert but then claims that it's okay because everybody does it. You can see him in all ...

Ken Tamplin isn't who we thought
I've been an admirer of Ken Tamplin for quite a long time and used to regard him as one of the few real-deal, no BS vocal coaches on YouTube, where "The proof is in the singing," as he always likes to say. Well, recently, a number of definitive analyses of his "live" performances have been making th...

Re: New Stryper album (2024)
New album is pretty good. Not quite as strong as their last several releases, and there aren't really any standout songs, but it's guaranteed to please any fans of Stryper's music. And from what I've seen of their touring videos on YouTube, they have the integrity to play and sing everything 100% li...
