Re: Remastered albums

My peronal remasters of the first two albums and CITAS, (from cassette) , have been done with the same software and sound pretty darn good too. Is this still available from some where? I'd love to get a good, clean version of the cassette cut of this concert. I have the CD and DVD version but no lo...

Re: Remastered albums

The two formerly 'missing' tracks on the 'Washes Whiter Than' remaster appear to have been sourced from vinyl. Listen carefully and you can hear the odd giveaway. In fact, the pops and flutters match exactly with the WAV files of those songs, that I uploaded to this very forum a couple of years ago...

Re: Classic Petra Resurrection LIVE! (Again)

Very cool, I would like to have gone I just don't have the time. Does anyone have the song set list? Anyone else think Greg sounds like Steve Perry a little, or in the same class of singer? Perry's voice had more "soul" to it, a bit of a rasp that gave him a unique sound. Volz's voice is very smoot...

Re: Remastered albums

Been listening to the "classic" albums, which is to say the original CD releases, and I have say, they sound extraordinarily good on the right equipment. I have a FiiO M11 digital music player that I listen to using Sony MDR-7506 studio quality headphones, and I hear absolutely nothing to complain a...

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer

Stryper has repeatedly stated they were not Petra listeners. They did not come up through the ccm labels, or venues. Instead they took the more standard approach and their biggest influence is probably Van Halen. Maybe some Boston or Thin Lizzy, but certainly not Petra. Heck, they still pretty much...

Re: Classic Petra Resurrection LIVE! (Again)

Who is in this line-up? Edit: Ah, never mind, this is just CPR. I didn't realize they were also known as "Classic Petra Resurrection". Honestly, it's still hard for me to think of any group as Petra if Bob Hartman isn't playing lead guitar. Agreed, but I enjoyed them much more than say the PP2/ God...

Re: Remastered albums

Various outlets have reported over the past few years that vinyl has been outselling CDs, but what they usually mean is that vinyl is out earning CDs. It’s possible that the number of vinyl units might have exceeded CDs last year, but the information put out to the news media is a little clouded. V...

Re: Remastered albums

I have compared two albums, lining up the first gen CD releases with the remastered. This process is kind of boring, but, I had to do some gain matching to be able to invert polarity of the remastered tracks so I could hear what is going on. Basically, the remasters are about 4dB hotter +/-, and th...

Re: Check this out.

Interesting. I wonder if there's anything legally that prevents a songwriter from reusing music from a previously published song and creating a new song with a new name? Depends on the contract. The smart ones jealously hold onto the rights to their music because that's where the money is. Steve Pe...

Re: Captured In Time & Space DVD

Louie told me he has masters from the previous night's shows, which he thought were better, but they have board mixes from FOH. They used the previous shows as tech rehearsals. If I remember correctly, those are the 3/4" video tapes, right? Louie better see about making a digital archive of that st...

Re: Remastered albums

I’d love to hear someone review the quality when they get their copies. Yes, a critical analysis of the sound quality versus the original CDs would be nice to read. I honestly don't plan on buying these to do my own comparison unless I'm somehow convinced that the "remasters" will really blow my so...

Re: Captured In Time & Space DVD

I bought the DVD as soon as it was available, and, yes, it's very obviously taken from a VHS recording as evidenced by some instances of video dropout and one or two creases. I imagine it's the best they had at the time as there can't have been many good quality copies of the VHS tape still around, ...

Re: Interesting stuff in Bob Hartman's garage sale

That Warmoth BHG Custom S is pretty cool.

Cool price, too: $1475, which is actually not that expensive for a custom made guitar.

Re: Remastered albums

U2's The Unforgettable Fire was a night-and-day difference. The other albums like War , The Joshua Tree , and particularly Achtung Baby saw only slight improvements at best. The Edge said that some of the albums they only allowed minimal EQ tweaking during remastering because they considered them ar...
