I have always been partial to the harder Petra stuff, but I'm also a sucker for a nicely crafted pop song with a good hook. This really sounds good. Can't wait to buy it. It sounds "radio friendly" but that's a world I don't understand anymore, so I won't get my hopes up.

Petra and Looney Tunes Pairing
I found this amusing - I looked for the Petra DVD on Amazon.com. It's there, but if you ever use Amazon, you would have noticed they like to pair the item you are looking for with another item and offer some sort of discount for the two. They title it "Better Together". Generally, the two items woul...

backing vocals
What about on some of the other songs throughout the Live CD. Having seen them live, I recognize the backing vocals of Greg and Bob. Some, however, seem a little higher and smoother (no offense). For example, in the rock medley "Think Twice" - The part WAIT JUST A MINUTE....The backing vocals don't ...

I always thought "Matter of Time" would have been a good song to add to the live set, expecially when they started touring with the Jekyl and Hyde material. It rocks, therefore, it was my favorite song on the CD. "St Augustine's Pears" was also a favorite. I did hear them play "If I Had to Die For S...

John's voice
My two cents worth - I have been listening to his music for 30 years. For the most part, he sounds very much the same. My kids hear some old HE stuff and remark that he sounds just like he does now. He now has a little more rasp, which I think sounds great on the Jekyll and Hyde stuff. Range? Check ...

John's New Job
Maybe I missed it, or maybe he is intentionally not mentioning it, but does anyone know what sort of work John is doing with his son? Certainly non of my business, but I'm curious. Something music related or completely different? I'm not picturing him putting on a tie every morning and heading for t...

I am 99.9% sure this is the church. Tony Larson is the guy. The first time they were here on Sept 11, the local paper had an article on him and the show. He is a big Petra fan so he was instrumental in organizing it with his church. I'm hoping he is thinking the same thing - we gotta get them back o...

Petra in MN
I'm hoping the Sept 11 Petra appearance in Chaska will happen again this year. I think they did 2 of the last 3 years. A very good turnout for that both times.

After Petra Who?
I will also throw in a plug for Kutless. Their first CD is good - sounds a lot like Creed...maybe a little too much like Creed. Their second CD, "Sea of Faces" is better, I think. They seem to have settled in to their own style. Hard rock, good vocals, catchy hooks, good song writing. I think most P...

Head East Get Yourself Up
I hate to break from the wholesome Monkees discussion, but back to HE and Get Yourself Up. I could never really tell from the album cover, but someone once told me it was a truck full of Whacky Weed. Made sense - Get Yourself Up. Maybe Brother Tom can confirm. You guys reminisce about the Monkees on...

Head East CD's
Well said, all of you, on the Head East discussion. We all know well enough where John has been and where he is now. The Head East music brings back a lot of good memories for me. This stuff was on the top of my playlist throughout High School and I was a Christian way back then too. A few suggestiv...

Head East
Gettin' Lucky certainly had a different feel to it. The producer must have been going for a little slicker studio production to get some radio airplay. The next Album - the self titled one - has a little more raw feel that was a better reflection of them. I can still recall seeing them after that LP...

Head East featuring John Schlitt
I just got my confirmation for my Head East CD order. I've been waiting for years to get their stuff on CD. I was happy to see it was not only the Gettin' Lucky album but also the Self Titled (Street Sign) album. The latter is especially good.
