Yeah. St Augustine's Pears and Invitation are fantastic. The others are a bit more so-so but are nice to hear sometimes.

thanks for the heads up about the spam

I think I deleted the main offender and all his junk. In the config section, activation was set to "user". I thought I had it on Admin, and I set it back there. Not sure how it changed. This thing *desperately* needs an update to PHPBB 3. Would like to get away from PHP entirely but I don't think th...

Hmm I just kind of want to get rid of PHP as much as possible. :) I work in Linux server hosting and see PHP sites hacked *all* the time. they can be somewhat secure with care though, and phpBB3 would likely be least painful.

This is an interesting idea. The main thing I care about if I contribute is that it be designed not to entertain us but to have real ministry value. There are already far too many places I want to go competing for my limited vacation time, so I doubt I could go or get too involved unless it has mini...

Move to Java based forum?

Hi all, Since this thing is a bit unmaintainable as some of you know, I'd kind of like to change platforms. Perhaps phpBB3 would be OK, but I'm really starting to look in the direction of Java. Just found a list of Java based forums: http://java-source.net/open-source/forum-software I haven't yet in...

On new server now. Seems fast so far.

Sorry for the downtime; the nameserver changes propagated faster than I expected, and I wasn't in a position to finalize things until now.

Switch to new server .... again

Yeah it's that time again. My employer (Rackspace Hosting) bought Slicehost, and is giving us employees awesome discounts on Slicehost slices. So, I'll be moving all my stuff from the dedicated server where it is now to the new Slicehost installation in the Rackspace DFW data center. The current ser...

glad it turned out Ok. Changed DNS Monday evening but one nameserver was still wrong and didn't get updated, and I forgot to change things in Apache. Did that Tuesday morning before taking off into the boonies by train. I couldn't verify that things were working before I left, so I'm glad to see it ...

pretty annoying. They pick the worst possible time to make me change stuff. Probably won't happen before I leave, so I'll probably try to find a cybercafe in Chihuahua, Mexico on Sunday and hopefully fix things from there. If something goes terribly wrong there's a possibility for a few days of down...

Zone interruption, probably Friday

Ok don't panic too much, hopefully it will be brief. But my hosting company just told me we get new IP assignments on Friday and we have a week to modify things. Unfortunately, during that week I'll be on vacation traveling through Mexico's Copper Canyon, with minimal (or no) internet access. Should...
